This review is written 1 week after my interaction with uBreakiFix. At this point, I have fixed my phone and recovered my data, and have no resentment towards the store. This review is based on my personal experience and everything that follows is based on pure fact, not emotion.
I took my iPhone 14 Pro to uBreakiFix because my screen would intermittently go in and out. They quickly diagnosed my phone by saying my screen was faulty, and I needed a new screen. They gave me different options (OEM, aftermarket, etc...) and were reasonably priced all the way around. I drop my phone off in the morning and they expected to have it ready before I even left my work at 6 pm. I did not receive any notifications or updates that my phone was ready (~4 pm promise time), which was slightly concerning, so I just waited till I got off work and headed over.
When I go to pick up my phone, one of the employees goes to the back to grab it and I overhear his conversation with his technician about what's going on with my phone "It's not holding a charge" "It's been sitting on the charger the whole day", which was pretty shocking to me since they diagnosed it as a bad screen, and never mentioned anything about the battery or charging of the phone. He comes out to me and tells me he is going to reverse the repairs, not charge me, and send me on my way. He lets me know it is having some type of motherboard issues that they would not be able to fix. He reverses the repairs, hands me the phone and it is at 1% battery life. I ask him to charge it for me for 5 minutes so my phone doesn't immediately die after leaving the store, which he does. He hands the phone back to me at 9%, and it was extremely warm to the touch, which he claimed was because it was on the fast-charger. 5 minutes after leaving the store, my phones battery percentage quickly goes down and my phone dies. At this point, my phone is officially a brick; it does not turn on at all and does not charge.
I take it back to them the next day and they tell me that they are not able to do anything, and that I'd need to either get a new phone or take it to someone who specializes in board repair. At this point, my phone is now factually in a much worse condition than it was initially in, and they essentially told me to kick rocks. Fair enough, because I did not want them to attempt another repair on my phone, I just wanted to see what they would say and if they would offer any assistance in my future repairs, which they immediately shot down.
I now have my phone completely fixed, and everything is functioning perfectly. The screen is no longer going out intermittently, my phone does not get hot on a fast charger, and everything is back to normal. Mind you, I still have the same screen I had when I first brought it into uBreakiFix, which they claimed needed to be replaced.
The moral of the story is they misdiagnosed my phone, left it in a worse condition than it was initially in, and were not able to help me after it was in said condition. All the workers were nice people and seemed professional, but I do not trust their repair ability one bit. Not to mention, they seem like they are understaffed, which doesn't help if you want your repair to get the attention it deserves.
If you don't want to be another number, don't go to uBreakiFix, cause you will be. You can tell by the copy/paste responses to their 1...

After the charging port was cleaned, the device was restored immediately, but here I was advised to spend $250 to replace the battery. And not only did they leave the sealant all over the place, but my screen started to malfunction a lot, which had never happened before I sent it to them, and I don't think they took my device apart and put it back on properly. Now I've spent more than $60 for simple diagnosis to turn my fine iPad into a device with a touch-poor screen and glue everywhere, and I'm glad I didn't follow their advice to replace the battery, because not only is my battery fine, but replacing their third-party battery can get you rejected by Apple warranty. It was a terrible experience of being lied to.
Original: The people are nice and helpful here, and checked my iPad, they said it might be a battery problem, and it would be ~$240 total and get fixed by this week, it's more expensive than Apple does, since they only provide third-party brand battery so I took it back. But when I check it, the sticker on the back won't come off, and they didn't seal the edge properly, the black glue is leaked out around the screen, I paid $65 for service fee, I understand because of the brand and price issue the iPad was not fixed eventually, but I got my device back still not working but dirtier. In general
Pros: people here are friendly and willing to help they can fix your device faster than the official
Cons: they are not authorized by Apple so they can only replace with third-party components the price is higher than the official
Summary: If you want to find some place and get diagnose on your device quickly, this is the place to go. If you have time for cheaper price then you should go for...
Read moreYesterday [10-6-2022], I visited, for my first time, the uBreakiFix store at 1586 N. High St. [in the "University District" neighborhood of Columbus].
I had previously always visited the uBreakiFix store at 790 Bethel Rd.; however, I had been unable to confirm, this time, that that store is still open because that store has disappeared from Google Maps.
As a "Google Maps Local Guide," it always concerns me when a business disappears from Google Maps when all other "non-Google-Maps" information would indicate that that business is still there.
The uBreakiFix store at 1586 N. High St. is actually closer to my home and also is within walking distance of several other locations where I had been planning to visit yesterday. So I telephoned the listed telephone number for uBreakiFix University District [several days before my planned visit], verified that they are indeed there and that they are open, and then visited there [yesterday].
So far, my only engagement with uBreakiFix, over the years, has consistently been to request that they do their "free diagnostics" and then to ask several clarifying questions; I have consistently been able to resolve all of my smartphone issues -- so far -- in that way.
All three times when I have visited uBreakiFix, I had recently been noticing extreme data usage or extreme battery usage on my smartphone. Each time, a technician would take my smartphone to a back room, would run it through ten minutes or so of diagnostics, and then would return to the front counter and then give me some helpful information.
If you have a problem with your smartphone that you would like to be solved quickly and easily, I strongly...
