If I hadn't been begged by the staff repeatedly to leave a review, I wouldn't have.
My girlfriend and I have been there twice and probably won't go back. The first time we had to send her Eggs Benedict back because it was entirely overcooked. They gave us another version of it and let us take the bad one home (why I don't know.) The waitress wouldn't talk to our table afterwards, and I must presume we never got a refill on our coffee because we complained. As we were leaving they told me that it was the cooks first day "doing eggs." I'm a former short order cook and totally understand that explanation. What I don't understand is...
The second time we went, no employees were in the room and there was a table of two seated by the front door. Stood for about two minutes in an empty restaurant and was finally greeted by someone from the back. They then sit us RIGHT NEXT to the only other two people in the building (empty @8:30am at a breakfast place; that should have been our first warning sign.) So now, from my perspective, I've been forced to wait for a cramped table by the front door. Awesome. My girlfriend orders the Eggs Benedict. Comes back exactly as bad as it was 2 months previous. At this point I can't find our waitress, and another person who tells me it is her job to just "clean up the tables" can't help me with fixing the food. So now I have a breezy (everytime the door opens) and wrong (they've had months to practice poaching eggs) dining experience that has been predicated by more of the same. Not seeing a reason to go back with all the great diners in this city.
I should say I get breakfast burritos and both the times I had them there they were fine...About 75% of the staff is in a good mood normally so that's...
Read moreI work right across the street and thought this would be a nice place to try. I was definitely wrong. Food is way overpriced, they make it sound like their eggs are better because they aren't caged in Chickens, well I grew up on a farm and none of our chickens were caged and eggs taste the same. Anyways I'm highly disappointed in the pricing All I got was a sandwich that cost $10 it wasn't worth $10. My total bill with tip was $15 with a drink. Now I know why they don't put their prices up on the website, bc they know its expensive, you could had me as an everyday customer but you don't have anything that is less than $10. Plus what you offered with a side to the sandwich was a joke literally, the waiter tried to say that these greens were like a salad, no its not a salad. If it was a true salad that would of been different. I'm not a rabbit, I don't need to eat just greens for a meal. They offered me potato's as a side instead and for that I am grateful, but the potatoes weren't all that great either (some were burnt and others were ok, they weren't tasty at all), if I could of just eaten a sandwich I would've been fine with just that. But there is no option for that. Oh and they have no options for drinks at all, I mean if you are going to be open for lunch you need to have more options for drinks. The sandwich was good, but for the portion and what I paid I felt extremely disappointed. I need affordable options for me to eat there everyday and they just don't have anything that is affordable. If I were to spend $15 a day it would total $75 for food for just one week and that just isn't an option. Especially when all I ordered was just a sandwich and nothing more. Definitely not worth the price...
Read moreI went to this First Watch today with a group of friends. Our waitress was nice and attentive and the food was good (although it came with a longer than usual wait time due to the "kitchen being backed up," but we overlooked it). When it came time to pay, that was a different story:
We were finished just around 12:30p and went to the register to pay. As we paid one-by-one, one of my friends was striking up a conversation with the guy at the register (didn't get his name, but he has brown, mop-shaped hair). This guy proceeded to ask very xenophobic questions to my friend and she quickly closed the conversation.
This was the first time she had ever experienced something like this publicly and it left her feeling sad and confused. This was becoming a regular spot for my friend group, but knowing that there are employees who feel like patrons need to explain their reason for being in this country (especially on a campus with international students, no less), we are more than happy to take our business elsewhere. It's almost pitiful to see someone who thought it was appropriate to ask...
