It's a beautiful green for sure, the center and signature space of OSU's campus. It's well-tended and patronized by many students for reading and other activities. Not many benches or places to sit, however, so many lay on the grass. Most people are coming and going on their way to somewhere. Student groups do occasionally set up shop for one reason or another, and there is a risk you could encounter some loud or unsavory political or religious groups and orators who have managed to get space for the day, or you might run into roaming missionaries and other proselytizers. Read moreThe Oval Beach is the best beach in all of Columbus. As a land grant University, The Oval is a destination and recreation space in and of itself. It is open to the public, though its disconnect from High Street and regular traffic/living space makes it a little difficult to reach. There are no attractions per say, however the large green space and ample tree covering makes it basically a gigantic park in the middle of a University space.
Do keep in mind: only pedestrian traffic is allowed across the Oval's pathways. If you are on a bike, board, or other vehicle, it is recommended that you go around rather than through as the pathways are...
