My husband and I visited Woodhouse Spa for the first time for a maternity massage for me and a Swedish massage for my husband; we both got a scalp treatment add on. Our experience was okay- not bad but we weren't wowed by any means. The location was nice and cute going for a quaint spa vibe. There's some light snacks, water, coffee, and tea. It wasn't brought to our attention that there were showers, sandals, or additional post service accouterment like razors, combs, lotion, hair ties, dry shampoo, etc. It would have been nice to know ahead of time so we could come prepared. We were told about the robes available to use so that was nice.
I've never had a maternity massage so I can't compare it but it was nice. Took a little trial and error to get comfortable. They offer a bolster to allow you to lie on your stomach. I think perhaps it's better suited for someone not so far along, or just with different anatomy. The hole for my stomach did not feel deep enough and I felt pressure on my belly which was uncomfortable. My masseuse was gracious to work with me to get comfortable on my side and had a bolster to lie on my back as well.
The "scalp treatment" was pretty basic and left much to be desired. I think they put peppermint oil on their fingers and then push your hair around your head. It absolutely was not worth the time or price we paid. I kept my opinions to myself as I tend to be a tougher critic than my husband but as we left he mentioned his thoughts on the "scalp treatment"- his words were I could have done without that- the hair dresser does a better job- I agree.
We usually go to Panacea Spa but they were booked so a friend suggested Woodhouse Spa. It's really difficult to compare the two as Panacea is a true luxury experience albeit with a price tag to match. With our scalp add ons we paid almost the same as we would have at Panacea and by no means was it a paralleled experience. We might consider trying a basic massage service again but certainly not our first pick here in Columbus. Not bad just...
Read moreI got a massage here while I was in town for business. I've been to a Woodhouse Spa several times back home so I booked here because I felt more sure I'd have a good experience here than at a random place. First of all, my massage therapist was great, A+++. I think he said his name was Adam. I've had several massages in my life both back home and around the world at expensive resorts and this massage is in my top 10. He listened to my needs and desires and my prior experience with massage, and delivered exactly what I needed. Perfect amount of pressure and felt very relaxed. I wish I had picked an appointment with more time (I only had 80 minutes). This Woodhouse compared to the one back home was quite a bit smaller, though it had similar amenities, there were fewer. The place was very clean and tastefully decorated. I was disappointed that they did not serve alcohol. Back home, the service comes with one beverage and there are more for purchase, so I consider a cabernet before and after the massage in the quiet room part of the experience. I assume they have a reason for this, like liquor license restrictions, but would have liked to have known in advance so I am mentioning here. The snacks in the quiet room were better than back home. I have a regular massage therapist but I like to visit Woodhouse Spa for the elevated relaxation experience that my therapist doesn't offer at her small spa, so I expect to pay more than a usual massage. But I will say that I think Woodhouse is quite expensive for what you do end up getting - at these prices, it seems they should offer resort spa amenities like hot tubs, cold plunges, snow rooms, etc. or at the least a sauna. Nevertheless, EVERYTHING is getting more expensive everywhere and Adam was excellent, so I'm not balking at the...
Read moreThis is now my… 4th or 5th time going to the Woodhouse. My first experience was amazing- zero complaints. This review is for my most recent visit on 11/18.
The Woodhouse has a lovely facility. I really enjoy the aesthetic of the quiet room and the retail shop is a super cute set up. They sell the most lovely and luxurious robes in there- I bight one w few years ago and love it!
I will say I find them to be overpriced for the level of service I received yesterday for a dermaplane facial. I was grateful for the last- minute appointment but I found my facial to be just basic. No steam, products applied so lightly I wasn’t sure anything was being done, a very lackluster arm massage… It just wasn’t worth the $180 price tag (this doesn’t include a tip)And I’ve had many facials in my day at this price point and higher. It was just kinda… okay.
Also they have this lovely, inviting quiet room where they request you keep it down. But no one seems to care, as it was extremely loud in that room. People were talking and laughing like they were at the bar. I begrudge no one for having a good time but if you’re looking to relax peacefully, the chatter and noise can definitely take you out of your zone.
I will say all of the staff was kind, professional, and attentive. But I feel like the Woodhouse’s inflated prices are mainly due to the relaxation area. And I’d be fine with that if I could actually...
