Columbus-Style Outback Steak: A Taste of Australia

Keep moving down the parkway past this establishment!! 15 minutes to be acknowledged at our high table beside the bar. Husband nabbed a random employee to get some attention. Once a server finally came, she was extremely rude in taking our order (“I was just given your table, it’s not mine,”. Offering no apology for our wait, instead giving attitude to a customer who was forgotten essentially-me!. This wasn’t starting well. She took our drink and meal order together. Husband was curious to see how long it would take for food to arrive so we set a timer. My foot was almost out the door at this point, but I digressed because it was getting late, we were already there, etc. The drinks were delivered (they were using styrofoam?) and a loaf of bread (others around us were given plates…? We weren’t. Not really a big deal at the time, but looking at the experience as a whole. . .) I ordered a steak medium well, loaded baked potato and Mac n cheez, hubby ordered steak medium well loaded baked pot and salad. His salad came rather quickly with a really spicy salad dressing so he finished his sweet tea just as quickly but the turn around for a refill was a significant wait. No updates on our meal until timer reached 30 minutes. Hubby-Sweet Tea? Server-sorry and I’m checking on your order. 5min later, Server-the kitchen is a mess but we are expediting your order. We have a large party, (yadda yadda yadda) delaying orders, I’ll make sure my manager takes some off your bill. Me-can I speak to him now please? Server-I’ll send him over. Manager type person who looked exactly like the host who seated us an hour ago—I am sorry for your wait. Please accept this $10 gift card for your next visit and slides it across the table to me. Me-slides card back to manager type person and said, keep the card because we will not be back…because the timer is still ticking (shows him the timer) at 42 minutes. Managerish dude-we have this large party over there. Me-that party is not my problem. My problem is the fact that we have been waiting all this time with excuses and poor service. Him-with more attitude than a manager type person should use in this instance, I’ll take care of your bill. Me-frustrated with all the attitude, says Damn right you will. Our plates finally came after FORTY SEVEN MINUTES, no loaded baked potatoes (server said it would have been an additional 20 minutes for the baked potatoes and she figured we wouldn’t want to wait longer for them. Wait—what? Where did all the baked potatoes go??) so we got loaded mashed potatoes, um. Yuck. I could tell from looking at my steak on the plate that it was rare before I even cut into it by using the touch test. Any cook who grills steak at a restaurant knows how to test if it is done to the customer’s request. It was definitely not medium well. My husband’s was over well done and dry. The Mac n cheez…i am a connoisseur, was dry, no cheese sauce of any kind, disappointing at best. From start to finish, DO NOT RECOMMEND. Don’t bother or waste your time. The only positive review-hubby said the sweet tea was ok, hence the one star. I wonder if there was anything “added” to our meal in the kitchen once we lodged our complaints…? Things that make you go hmmmmmm. Photo of “medium well” steak…. You can’t make this stuff up.

Stopped in here today (Thursday) for lunch. We've been to numerous Outbacks, but the first time at this location. Hardly anybody in the restaurant so we were seated right away. I don't remember our waitress's name but I believe she was the bartender. She was fantastic! We got a bloomin onion, which was as good as usual. I got the bloomin fried chicken with french fries and a side salad and it all tasted good with the exception of their barbecue sauce. It's running and it doesn't even taste like barbecue sauce The chicken was moist and juicy. My husband got steak and a baked potato and salad. He ordered his steak medium rare, which it was on the inside. But the outside was basically burnt. He said it was not good. The worst thing about the meal, was....they bring your food out on little luncheon size plates. Your food is barely staying on the plate. So you have no way to cut your meat without all your french fries falling off of the plate. My husband had the same issue when he tried to cut his steak and bake potato was sliding off. There's absolutely no excuse to not be able to get a full size plate that is appropriately sized to hold your food.

Where to even begin… I called two days prior to coming to this restaurant. We were taking a friend out for his birthday looking to have a good time. I made a reservation over the phone, the lady on the phone said she had to ask the manager to see if they could even take reservations. She said it was okay and took ours. Once we all showed up the lady up front gave an attitude saying “we don’t take reservations.” Keep in mind this is on a busy Sunday. I spoke with the manager there & she said oh I’ll be right back to try to help. They had my name down for the time I told them but they said they can’t hold any tables. Make it make sense. She never came back to help us. She avoided us the entire night. Horrible management. We still waited an hour & a half just to be seated. Once we were seated it took another hour and a half just to get our appetizers. Half of them were disgusting. Most of the blooming onions were burnt. Our waiter was very nice he was trying to be helpful however the set up & the service throughout the entire restaurant was ridiculous. Once we FINALLY got our food, none of our steaks were cooked correctly. The ones suppose to be medium well were well done & the well done were medium well. Our friend ordered shrimp with his steak, they forgot the shrimp. Our other friend ordered broccoli, mushy & burnt. The steaks that needed to be recooked they didn’t even have more of them to cook! It took another 30 mins to 45 mins for them to fix our meals after we compromised for a different type of steak. At this point, we were at the restaurant for 3 hours. You would think for a new location of a restaurant just recently opened & a STEAKHOUSE it would be more acceptable service. We will NOT be returning to this restaurant. Ever. If you want a good time, literally pick anywhere else. McDonald’s is 5 stars compared to this restaurant. All of us were going out to have a good time & enjoy ourselves. We ended up laughing at the end of it all because of how shocked we were with how badly the service was & only because we were together. Oh, and the restaurant was FREEZING! It was 60 degrees outside & they had that AC bumping for no reason. Literally can’t even fathom how bad our experience here was. We never experienced anything like this. It’s sad I even have to give them ONE star. If you read this, MATE. You suck. Don’t waste your time or your money!! Literally go anywhere else. Even the people sitting next to us were so fed up with the service. They came way after us & left way before...

Alright, first impressions it looks like a fancy restaurant from the inside when u first walk in. At first I thought yeah this is nice but then the house host gave us a nasty look like she had a rough day and needed to leave, Or she didn’t like that we came in I don’t know. (Didn’t bother to see if she had a name tag, I didn’t see one but general discrpition she was African American) and she slightly threw the menus on the table and said “your server will be with you shortly.” I thought she gave us another nastly look before walking back but whatever I was hungry. Our server was Keefer :) he was awesome very friendly, But maybe lacking a little on clearing our table even now that I think about it, it’s happening everywhere you go out to eat. Now on to the food… I had a ribeye steak with shrimp combo 2 sides, my date at the time had steak with lobster tail 1 side. I would say I’ve had better steak and shrimp somewhere else. My steak seemed like the pepper shaker top came off and spilled sooooo much spice on the steak, but at least it was on the side with the fat portion of the steak so I didn’t have to suffer to eat that much pepper. And 4 shrimp…. Neat. The sides where FANTASTIC they know how to steam broccoli and make fries thank god. My dates meal was pretty good I think he liked his side of macaroni and cheese a bit more than his other main meals. Now we did get dessert it was ice cream butter cake and a brownie with a strawberry moat. Couldn’t remember the name of that dessert for the life of me but that was the BEST dessert I’ve had anywhere. If I could give a chefs kiss emoji I would but sadly there isn’t one. The atmosphere wasn’t really doing anything for me maybe except the moving traffic outside was a lot better to look at. There is maybe 2 actual wall hangings in the place. The other two things that I remember where a man fighting a kangaroo or a painted wall with Australia on it. And there was also a broken light above our table, at least we had enough light from outside to see our meals. I’m not entirely sure when they opened the the establishment I was told they had opened recently from some friends. (Possibly a few years give or take) they need more inside to look at is what I’m gonna say. Not to bad not too good but average, which is weird if it’s called a steakhouse. Not saying that it’s bad, but there seems to look like it needs a...
