Had a nice time at this hotel on an anniversary trip we took. Only stayed one night, but it was pretty good. The man at the front desk was friendly, polite, and checked us in very quickly. We were on the 4th floor, but the hotel itself was VERY busy. I think due to it being President's Day weekend. The room was clean, clean sheets and bathroom, TV worked, but the lighting is terrible. There's no ceiling light and they have those bright white light bulbs, not very warm and inviting. There was no outlet on one side of the bed to plug your phone into, and on the other side it was just a clock to plug it into. Need more options close to the bed to charge your phone! The bathroom does not have a fan, even though there is a vent above the toilet that looks like it's supposed to be a fan. The amenities are basic, make up remover towelette, bar of face soap, and some sanitizing wipes. They do have hand soap, lotion, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash pumps attached to the walls. I liked that because most of the time, hotels give you the tiny bottles, which aren't enough. Or worse, they give you nothing at all. I will say that the shampoo, conditioner, and body wash were watery. I had to use like 10 pumps to even get a lather. I'm assuming they just water it down to make it go further. Lotion also ran out. The pool was packed when we went, kids screaming, we thought about using it, but it was not the quiet environment we were hoping for. And it was busy at all times, morning, afternoon, night. The thermostat in the room is adjustable, but there is no fan you can turn on to drown out the noise, or at least give you some ambient noise. We sleep with a fan on, so that was disappointing that we couldn't just turn the fan on the unit to run all night. In the morning, while I was in the shower, I could hear kids running up and down the hallways for like 10 minutes straight. My husband was still asleep, and this was quite annoying. I'm not sure if someone said something, but it stopped after I was done in the shower. Or I would have opened my door and said something. Check out is noon, and some people like to sleep in later. The breakfast area was nice, but crowded and by 9:30 AM, there were some things that were out, or dwindling. Coffee was hot, tasted good. I just had a biscuit and jam, and it was alright. If I had been more hungry, I would have gotten more but my husband said the sausage gravy and sausage patties were good. Checkout is easy, drop off your keys and you're good to go! Last thing, parking. Nightmare. We came back from a party around 11:30 PM on Saturday night and there was absolutely no parking. A large truck was taking up 3-4 spots, and we had to squeeze in behind him. Luckily someone left so we could get a better spot, but for how many rooms this hotel has, and how busy it was, they need more parking. There wasn't even an overflow lot or anything. If we need to stay somewhere for a night, I would stay here again. Just a few tweaks would make this hotel 5...
Read moreThis was our first stay at a Hampton Inn hotel. While I was looking up directions for the hotel, I saw on the reviews that there was no refrigerator or microwave in the rooms. This is a huge problem for me as our three year old needs milk to be kept cold, as well as her snacks and I would live to have somewhere to put water bottles for during the night and while we are in the room. So of course there are no cancellations or refunds and we are stuck there. I had a small cooler with me that holds about 12 bottles of water. I put the half gallon of milk in there with a few water bottles and started loading up all of the ice I could fit in it. I had saw online that the front desk will store any perishable items you have, including leftovers in the refrigerator behind the counter because of the inconvenience of not providing refrigerators for their guests. We get back from our $80 dinner with leftovers and the front desk clerk informs us that their refrigerator is broken and there is nothing she can do for us. So the leftovers for myself, my husband and our daughter would all spoil overnight. I then called guest service on the Hampton line and waited for 40 minutes then spoke to a very rude gentleman that informed me that the "nicer" hotels expect you to use room service and not have a refrigerator in the room. There is no restaurant on site and no room service. I spent the next 15 minutes pouring my daughters milk into empty water bottles so it would fit in the cooler and I could cram our leftovers on top of the ice. The breakfast the next day was terrible. My boyfriend couldn't even eat his soggy waffle the timer on the waffle iron was defective. The tiny little cinnamon rolls were an absolute joke compared to the cinnamon rolls at the Holiday Inn Express. Bottom line: no refrigerators or microwaves, staff and corporate guest services extremely unhelpful and hotel does not accommodate to small children whatsoever. We will NEVER stay at a...
Read moreFirst impressions can always be lasting ones, and Jarrod at the Front Desk left a wonderful first impression when we checked-in. He was funny, personable and welcoming. ||The next morning I received assistance in procuring some items for our room from the Night Auditor, Arlene, who it seems does wonders being the solo person at the desk. ||And then later that morning from the Front Desk Agent, Sabrina, who also left a wonderful lasting impression, as we checked-out with her. ||The complimentary continental breakfast was a nice thing to have. I made myself fresh Belgian-style waffles (they provide the batter and you just pour it on their nice professional waffle irons and wait for the beep to tell you they’re done). I wish the coffee tasted better; gotta get a different set of beaks, Hampton Inn. ||As far as the room goes, our HVAC connected below the window worked spectacularly, and kudos to Chad, the Engineer, who gave us insight into how it all works (hint: it’s controlled by the thermostat located on an entirely different wall). ||All the fixtures produced hot water perfectly each time, and very quickly. ||If there were 2 downsides to our studio suite, it was that the fridge included in the room gets cold, but not as cold as one would hope, and there is no thermostat to control the temperature. ||Also, the shower pressure was very weak. Increased the amount of time it took to rinse off. ||We didn’t get to use the pool, but that’s only because we didn’t bring our swimwear. ||Overall, we recommend this hotel wholeheartedly and would definitely come back the next time we decide to visit the Arnold Sports Convention in Columbus. It was only a convenient 20-minute drive to downtown Columbus, by the way, and much more affordable than the...
