So maybe you're like me and typically enjoy sedentary activities (the occasional video game, table top gaming, movies, etc.); and you also have a job where you are planted onto a chair for eight hours or possibly more on a weekly basis. You feel awful and tired all of the time. You look into trying things to get yourself back active and to make healthier choices when every obstacle is in your way preventing you....convenient snack machines at work, what feels like no time to cook. Maybe you suffer from depression. The desire is there, but the energy isn't... Well, then you're like me in a few ways. Stick with me a moment, because I'm going to give you a long and honest review.
I've tried to train at home, but I've always had trouble with consistency especially when left to my own devices. Some people can discipline themselves enough to workout at home and it works for them. But that doesn't always work for everyone. So, I decided to give this gym a try.
I went to their website and scheduled a 30 minute visit just to talk. That's all. You head over and have an honest sit down about what your goals are (if you have any because maybe you don't just yet, and you're still figuring that out) and what the gym has to offer. Firstly, there are no contracts. I have had previous experiences with contracts, and I was relieved to discover that there are none here.
So, I took this first step and went over. I tell you, I'm so happy I did. Sure, it's a smaller facility, but the equipment is good quality and very well maintained. Sure, you walk in and the place is full of Norse imagery and Heavy Metal (which may not be your thing, but I think it's pretty awesome..nothing like having Fenrir breaking his chain as a logo). And yes, many of the members are competitive power lifters. That may seem scary to some folks, but here's the thing. At no point have I ever felt self-conscious in there. At no point have I ever like I was being judged. The staff and members here are friendly and helpful. My first time in there, I wasn't sure how to do something and members took time to show me how to do something. This happened again when I was having a little trouble getting dead lifts down. My trainer, Clint, is there for me and supportive. Other members have been supportive and have cheered me on to get that one last rep. If you are afraid of gyms because of "Gym Fail" pictures...trust me, if anyone pulled that kind of stunt in there, they'd be ejected.
So what is the appeal? Members and trainers who care about health, safety and self-improvement through strength training, a place where you can be held accountable and encouraged to get back up, a space where you are pushed past your limits but also encouraged to pace yourself (as many have said, it doesn't matter how much weight you are lifting, form, safety and pace are more important).
I apologize for the rambling, but I wanted to give my take on this gym and encourage you, whomever you may be, to come check the place out. You may be very...
Read moreWhat Andy has been doing with Norse Fitness is amazing. I've been supporting him and his company for going on 3 years now and have never once been disappointed with the product that I have received. The shirts all look amazing and are really soft and stay true to size even after multiple washes and the lifting equipment is top of the line and holds up well. Their customer service is also phenomenal. On the rare occasion I've ordered the wrong size, Andy made it very simple to exchange for the right size. Definitely the one of the best fitness apparel and gear companies out...
Read moreNorse Fitness is ready to help you get to where you want to be. No matter your personal fitness starting point, short, or long term goals; this is a safe, supportive, and instructive atmosphere. I’m very impressed by how willing so many members at the gym pause their own training to share observations, demonstrate the fundamentals, and the better/safer path to help you achieve your goals. The past 5 months with Norse Fitness and everyday I continue to show up and put in the time and the effort, the foundation for the BEST possible me gets...
