Staff is friendly and helpful. Quick to dash for a game if you're a big spender, love the enthusiasm. They have some retro games for you to play and relax with very cool music playing. I like the decorations and memorabilia they have throughout the store too. They even have old VCRs like Pokemon, Sonic, and other shows! They have a VERY wide selection of games, if you're looking for something physically and absolutely can't wait for shipping or too lazy to check the internet, this is the place for you.
Everything here is marked up about 20+% it's actual retail valued average. You can find games that are far cheaper at other stores (Game Craze, for example) of the same quality, label, and inserts for a far cheaper price. Know that you're paying a premium because you're impatient, they didn't hustle you, you're just ignorant. I theorize they have these prices due to the area they're currently in; a lot of rich college kids with daddy's credit card so they wouldn't know or care what the actual price actually is. Prime examples of this are Baldurs Gate 1 for the PS2 they have for sale for $30 with inserts, both Players Choice and basic black label. You can find this exact game at other markets in the flea market for $15=
Read moreOne of the most impressive video game stores I've ever visited. 8-Bit Hall of Fame features an immense selection of video games, consoles, accessories, peripherals, collectables, publications and imports that is sure to intrigue anyone. Video game fans from the casual player to the hard-core collector will be able to find something here that will delight and excite.
The store showcases titles and systems dating back to the early days of home play up to modern offerings for current generation systems. It also has an impressive number of imported titles from Japan on a variety of consoles including retro and modern platforms.
While you can expect to pay fair retail prices on most items, the variety of offerings is unparalleled to any other game store that features retro titles, systems and toys. The store also has amazing collectable items peppered throughout its vibrant and colorful display cases including rarities you may only see in pictures or come across only a couple times in a lifetime. And yes, some of those items fetch a pretty penny, but this store may provide you with your only opportunity to acquire such items.
I was happy to patronize the store as I love to support local small businesses. And yes, I spent more than I originally intended, but I was happy to do so. I was well attended to and spent a couple hours just taking it all in.
8-Bit Hall of Fame has landed a new and loyal customer in this collector, and I plan to visit and support the store every time I find myself in the Bonita Beach area looking to expand my ever growing collection.
Gamers, do yourself a favor and visit this store, as it's contents, merchandise, selection and care are surely worthy of the name...
Read moreThis store was so cool! I walked in and was immediately overwhelmed by the incredibly large selection of games they had. Thankfully everything is organized to perfection, so finding things you are looking for is super easy.
In the store there are plenty of not only games, but controllers and accessories as well. There are lots of options first party wise for new and old systems, but what I thought was really neat were some of the third party controllers, such as wireless ones made for older systems.
The pricing I found to pretty much line up exactly with what you would find on PriceCharting, which I would say is pretty good. Some things were pretty over PriceCharting though, but those items were rare and not the high demand games and I honestly think it’s just because they were worth that at some point, but have dropped over time.
There is also a super awesome retro section where you can play a bunch of old games on retro CRT televisions. They even had ET playing on the Atari which I found pretty hilarious.
The store owner was incredibly friendly too and let me try out a controller before buying it. The icing on top was that the bags you get at check out are Toys R Us bags.
Overall this was a great, nostalgia heavy store that I would highly recommend to both new and old gamers. I really wish there was something like this...
