I always book Marriott Hotels, but decided to give Drury Inn at the Gulf Coast Town Center in Fort Myers a try since it's close to the airport and their nightly rate was good. We booked 3 nights in early May -- 2 nights at the beginning of our vacation and a 3rd night at the end. We had a late check-in, but the front desk agent gave us a very nice extra spacious room in my requested location. However, my first impression of the hotel was tainted by a tour agent who rudely interrupted my check-in process by demanding immediate attention. It was awkward for the front desk agent, but he did a great job at being professional.
We were also impressed with the cleanliness of the hotel. It's super clean! Not a fan of having to go downstairs to get a cup of coffee, so was disappointed to learn that in-room coffee makers have been removed because of Covid. People put their fingers on the coffee dispensers downstairs just as much as they put them on in-room coffee makers.
On our first day, we stopped at the front desk with a couple of questions and spoke with Lori, who needs to be trained in how not to be condescending and overbearing. My questions were simple. Her responses were circuitous, but she told me I needed to stop over-complicating things. She knew she offended us, but made no effort to apologize. When we returned for our last night, she was at the front desk and had another opportunity to do so, but chose to make a condescending remark about remembering us instead.
On the bright side, there's Kim, who is everything a front desk agent should be: welcoming, warm, helpful and very professional. Almost gave Drury Inn a 5-star review based solely on her outstanding customer service attitude and skills.
On our 3rd night, we had a evening flight, so I requested a late check-out and learned that it's company policy to charge $49.00 for a half day if you need a late check-out over one hour. After staying 3-nights, it would have been nice to receive a little flexibility. This is one of the reasons I always stay at Marriott Hotels. Their policies better support guest...
Read moreVery happy with our stay at the Drury Inn! Proximity to airport is a huge plus but it definitely feels cozier and nicer than your standard airport hotel. Ronesha at the front desk was so kind and helpful. We arrived before the check in start time but were able to use the amenities like the pool. Our room was a little smaller than expected but beds were comfy and the room was very clean as well as the bathroom. Room has a mini fridge, microwave, small coffee machine, iron and board, hair dryer, shampoo etc, all the basics. Parking is free and we never had issues not finding a spot. Location is safe and we never felt uneasy even late at night. It was so helpful to be right next to Gulf Coast center. There’s plenty of food options and shopping. Super target, cvs, marshalls, hair salons, anything you can think of is within 2-5 driving. Breakfast was very good: waffle machines, scrambled eggs, sausage patties, biscuits and gravy, breakfast potatores, mini muffins, toast options, cereal options (lucky charms, cheerios, chex mix, raisin bran), milk. We really loved that there was sugar free syrup for the waffles and sugar free jam options. Breakfast was always hot and constantly being refilled by the staff who also made sure areas were kept clean and tidy. There’s also juice options and very good coffee :) Our first night we checked out the kickback, there was soup, meatballs and mashed potatoes, fountain soda and freshly popped poppcorn which was also really nice to have as an option and free. Pool is also great, it’s supposed to be heated but was a little chilly. But compared to other hotels it’s a great size and was never crowded, there’s a shaded area too if avoiding the sun. Jacuzzi was awesome, and also quite large compared to the typical. Plenty of clean towels easily available and cushions for beds if you want to lounge as well as tables and chairs. We would most definitely stay in the drury inn next...

We, me and my wife, stayed here for two nights in mid-Dec 2018 in a deluxe queen room (Room # 601). Location, overall cleanliness, room, bed and linens, bathroom, pool area, wifi speed, breakfast all were as good as advertised. The kickback food/beverage in the evening was exceptional and surpassed our expectation to be honest. Usually when we travel in urban areas, we don't spend much time in the hotel. we mostly spend time outside exploring and come to hotel for the few hours of sleep at night. This time it was different, and we ended up spending our evenings at the hotel indeed. the credit goes to the amenities including but not limited to the excellent evening kick-back food and beverage. The kickback was in true essence no less than dinner to be honest and we loved the offerings much (hot dog, pasta, salad, fajita etc). Complementary coffee and popcorn all day long at the lobby area. Check-in and check-out processes were quick and easy. Carla checked us in and Lori checked us out. Both were very friendly, helpful, smiling and seemed to like their job. Didn't use the hot-tub but used the pool. It was clean and the temperature was nicely maintained. The pool area and the towels were clean too. location wise, it was convenient as well. Costco warehouse was within walking distance which puts a big smile on face for loyal Costco customers like us :) The Gulf Coast Town Center (shopping mall) was within sight from the compound and 2-3 minutes drive. The Miromar Outlet Mall was about 10 minutes drive. Overall, it was indeed very satisfying experience in our first ever stay at a Drury Inn and we would not think twice to stay here again if we are back in the area. Also, would now on like to explore Drury Inn hotels in other cities as we travel the country. Thank you, Drury Inn, for making our vacation...
