DO NOT GO HERE. Absolutely horrific week for my girlfriend, who was in the hospital for severe UTI on top of multiple kidney stones. Starting Monday the 25th we had great help at the ER, who got us to the first available bed at this hospital. Thatās where all the help ended and everything went downhill. Not a single person on staff knew anything, they either didnāt know or werenāt allowed to explain because they arenāt the doctor. Monday to Wednesday we thought she had a single kidney stone. Doctor never came to explain, and urologist nurse finally came to explain after questioning nurse after nurse for explanation of what was the plan. No information was ever shared between shifts. Every shift change the battle began again from the start, reexplaining the medications my gf had been being given (they would just start giving medication that the previous shifts staff had already found out didnāt help and changed to something that did), reexplaining that we need to talk to someone who has answers. Finally, an hour before her procedure we find out she actually has 3 kidney stones on top of eachother, I only found out what her planned procedure was because I overheard a nurse say it to another nurse. After her cytoscopy she immediately knew something was wrong. From Wednesday at 4 in the afternoon all the way up until the urology nurse Denise ripped the stent out my gf without any explanation/preparation (more on that soon) on Thursday at noon my gf was in excruciating pain. Writhing in pain to the point that she wet herself and almost passed out multiple times and calling out for help. Staff on shift came in and checked her vitals, which were all good confirming pain was the cause, and said āoh itās just the pain, weāll get you medicine in 20 minsā that medicine she needed was promised to my gf by the surgeon when she got back to her room from procedure. No one on staff knew anything about that medicine and took their time getting ahold of the surgeon to get it prescribed. Saying they had to wait 15 mins to contact him again. Only the nurse techs ever showed any compassion, and held no power to help my gf other than what they could, bring warm blankets and provide emotional support. After this horrific situation my gf got her medicine plus so much more that the lead nurse didnāt even know what was given until minutes later and rushed in to give her supplied oxygen due to there being so much medicine. Which still didnāt put her to sleep or remove her pain. She finally fell into half sleep constantly waking from pain through the night. Come the next day the nurses continued to be physically annoyed by my gfs constant pain, yet did nothing to find out why. Telling her her pain is normal from the procedure and didnāt look into her pleading that something is wrong. Urology nurse Denise finally came to talk to us, telling us we were babying her needed to make her walk on her own and hold her water on her own, that we were causing her pain by helping her. Dismissed her pleads that something is wrong until finally taking a look. Removed us from the room to examine my gf alone with two other nurses. Saw that yes, the stent was loose and out of place (something had been wrong all along) and then proceeded to pull it out of my gf without any prep. Finally opened the door and made a comment hinting at the fact that my gfs anger of this situation seems to be a mental issue, we rushed passed her to see my gf angry and crying, blood splattered on her blankets and the floor next to her bed. But her saying all of that pain is now completely gone at noon the next day. Resolving that she was correct this whole time, 20 hours of unending pain later. The nurse then took personal offense to the situation and called the doctor to come in and speak with us, informing us that she will remove herself from the situation now and the follow up will no longer be with her (good). Doctor came and allowed discharge of my gf Thursday night. We got all her medicines prescribed and she is now healing from this horrific situation at home....
Ā Ā Ā Read moreYOUNG WOMEN!!! THIS IS A MUST READ!!! EAST ORLANDO ADVENT HEALTH TRAUMATIZED AND VIOLATED ME!!!! I want to begin by saying that Karla, Jenna, Kelli, Shaun, Susan and several of my nurses/ techs were so very kind, went above and beyond and were very attentive. They were hard workers who showed genuine empathy and believed me when I said I was in pain.
Before having a stent inserted into my ureter, I was told I could react poorly to it. Well, after my procedure, I was certain something was wrong.
I was released from my procedure around 3pm on Nov. 27th. Dr. Cruz- Diaz, who performed the procedure, said he would call and let us know how the procedure went. He didnāt, but thatās okay, I assumed somebody, ANYBODY would listen. I was fine for about an hour while the anesthesia started to wear off, then, excruciating pain, for the entire night, up until 1pm, on Nov. 29th. worse than the pain I initially went to the ER for. (Kidney stones + UTI) I was certain the stent was the cause.
I was on SEVERAL narcotics, morphine and so many pain killers that Susan had to put me on oxygen. I could not speak, I could not move, I couldnāt control my bladder up until 1pm, Nov. 29th, when Denise the nurse practitioner from urology, ripped the stent out of my ureter without warning.
Brianne, one of the nurse leads, who has been inconvenienced by my friends constant questions, confusion and my discomfort throughout the shift, watched Denise lay my hospital bed down, and RIP the stent out of my urethra, no warning, Denise said ālet me take a lookā dug her fingers in my vagina, said āoh it does look shallowā¦ā. Meanwhile Iām sobbing, screaming, what sheās doing hurts very bad, and she was not gentle, she was very, very aggressive. She proceeded to say āIām just gonna rip off some tapeā¦ā then it all happened so fast, she RIPPED it out of me, I screamed, I was sobbing. I said āthis is a nightmare!!!ā Then Denise put her hands up and acted all confused and stared at me and said ā-ugh- wha- what is the problem now? Where is your pain nowā ā¦I stared at herā¦. Dumbfounded and screamed that it was gone now that she just ripped the stent out of my vagina, she said, and I quote, āI did not rip, I pulled it out.ā Photos of the blood splatter from her āpulling it out of meā are attached.
The medical gaslighting had me convinced I started my period from how much bright red blood there was, nobody knew what drugs to administer, the wrong doses and medicines were all I was given. but some nurses and Denise, were ADAMANT that I was making it up, and simply needed to get up and roam around and quote ādo things for myselfā
She told my friends Iām here with that they must stop ācateringā to me, she came in and chuckled while I was in unbearable pain that āwhat? Your arms donāt work?ā Because my friends had to hold my water up to my mouth for me to drink. Because every bone in my body was suffering unnecessarily. I could not speak, and I was being laughed at, traumatizing. Utterly traumatizing.
I was dumbfounded, here I am, unable to move, and Denise is telling me the pain is my fault, despite me informing every nurse that had the opportunity to speak with my grumbling half- conscious body that āsomething is wrong, something is wrongā.
My friends kept trying to alert the nurses that something was wrong, but I was informed, AFTER the stent was RIPPED out of me in the most violating, and humiliating way, that Brianne tried to speak with me but I was ātoo unconscious for herāā¦..
So no apologies, nothing, just smirking and violation, Iām calling for my friends outside the room, sobbing, begging them to let them in to advocate for me (they strategically separated us bc they were convinced they were āenabling meā) but Denise runs out to convince my friends that something is wrong with me, implying, something is wrong with me mentally. She said to them āā¦. I think something ELSE is wrong hereā¦ā They werenāt buying it.

Ā Ā Ā Read moreI worked in a level one trauma center for over 20 years, including as a quality assurance team member. So I have a little bit more experience with this review, you the reader can decide whether it has more weight than other reviews or not.
It has been over 3 years since I've been to East Orlando for emergency services. I spent 9 days recently, for an unexpected illness, after being seen in the emergency room. Man have things changed in the past 3 years, and unfortunately not for the good. I was admitted for of all things ,uncontrollable non-stop hiccups 24/7 driving me crazy. By day three The medications that they were giving me still had not stopped my hiccups. My assigned doctor came to me first thing in the morning and said we're going to figure this out and I'm going to do a scope on you this afternoon that should hopefully answer a lot of questions .he could tell and see the exacerbation on my face and the stress . He stated,The hiccups were putting undo stress, on my heart he said was not good. he acknowledged my desperation, and he he said he totally understood , and could see, the pain n agony I was going through. And how serious this had become to my health. I was averaging four hiccups a minute, 24/7 ,and ready to jump off the roof. so I couldn't wait for my exam ......5:00 PM rolls around, and I asked where the doctor is? the nurse tells me "HE DECIDED TO GO HOME EARLY AND START HIS VACATION EARLY@ 130P IT WON'T BE BACK FOR 2 DAYS!! AM I DREAMING? One of the good nurses was on that day and was so angry about the doctor leaving early, especially after they told me how excited they were that I was going to get this exam, they didn't want to say anything to me but finally did and apparently called somebody in administration to complain about what the doctor had done to me especially in my situation. The upset and anger after hearing this.. did nothing but exacerbate my condition., DEEPLY UPSETTING ME AND MY FAMILY, unprofessional is me saying it kindly.... that was not health care ,that was health careless and he knew it the next time he saw me, and I let him know how I felt also, Two days later.. and to be honest he really didn't care.
Not to mention the nurses that came to attend to me .....a few were great .The rest were ...let's put it this way ,so large that two of them could not stand while taking my blood ,they needed to be seated in chairs OUT OF BREATH AND BREATHING HEAVY ON ME, MAKING ME WANT TO PUKE.. They were scary looking and had attitudes to go with it. You're a nurse I don't expect anything from you other than compassion, qualit and to do your darn job. not being out of breath and wiggling trying to get my blood at the same time with multiple pokes. With nasty attitudes. These people should have retired years ago. The next description I have is LAZY EXTREMELY! They didn't even come when I pushed the nurse call button on the overnight which triggered an automatic hospital review ,and a chief nurse coming in and talked to me about the situation so she could remedy it, laughable. this wasn't just one or two nurses .we're talking five or six well over 2/3 of the nurses that we're dealing with me.. So you could imagine that the care that I received trickled down from that... it was piss poor. After 9 days I ended up going home and I was 32 lb less weight that I had lost over those nine days in the hospital.I'm a medical professional.. and can easily say, I will never go back to East Orlando emergency room again. For someone that had a serious condition that was still unresolved after 4 days, due to a young doctor not only lying to the patient but in my opinion, showed medical abuse by not doing anything for 2 days while on vacation,I suggest their staff take a real hard look at their processes . .you wasted my time My insurance money , and risked my life and prolonged my pain and agony .Don't go here if you're looking for some quality care go...
