Absolutely not up to scratch. One of the worst lounges BA has at a major airport. No showers, which is ridiculous (you can go to the AA lounge (which is much better) to use their showers but it's a trek) . Cramped with not enough space. Noisy with so many people in one space. Food is mid. Service is practically non existent (except the guy out the front at reception - he was friendly and useful).
Boarding from the lounge is probably one of the worst ideas ever come up with. They have a single person checking passports, so it's very slow. People queue up in the already cramped space making it even slower. It's impossible to board by group in the lounge as there's no room to maneuver. But even worse: they let people in later boarding groups from the gate onto the plane before you board from the lounge. I came onto the plane to find the whole of the premium economy cabin full, I had to stow my bags in another cabin and rush unpacking, missed the pre-takeoff service. Protip: just board from the gate.
Even more protip: just go to the AA lounge and leave enough time to get to gate to board. Or Cathay Pacific lounge...
Read moreLivid!! I bought a JAL ticket from SFO that includes lounge access. Since Sakura lounge is gone, our tickets literally say to go to the British Airways lounge. BA and JAL customer cares both said the lounge should be open, but it still wasn't open two hours later. BA customer cares told me to talk to the BA ticketing counter, even after I told him nobody is here because BA doesn't fly until the afternoon. BA twitter sltold me BA lounge opens at 13:30. JAL leaves SFO at 13:40, you are paying for no lounge access and they don't give you any alternatives. I wouldn't fly either airline out of SFO!
7:27 update: employees started to come in, acted like the doors should have been unlocked. Then a front of house employee put up a cut out, with a paper stuck saying the lounge is closed. So, closed hastily and unexpectedly.
7:47 update: was able to speak to an employee entering the lounge. She said the lounge...
Read moreAbsolutely terrible service. I was on the phone with my mom when they turned her away because their lounge was going to be too full and told her to walk across the airport to the American lounge. My mom has bad knees so she asked to talk to a manager or if there was a closer lounge that she could go to for her 3 hour long wait and the lady at the desk, Cassandra told her that there was nobody else for her to talk to and sent her away. I understand lounges being busy but to not direct her to a closer lounge (Air France) or help call for another wheelchair assist she just left an elderly lady high and dry. Absolutely abysmal service from a lounge. We will certainly refrain from booking BA in the future if this is how they treat long time customers with sapphire status and a business...
