I recently ordered a drink through the Starbucks mobile app and was disappointed to find out that they were sold out of the option I had selected. I waited for 5 minutes past the time the drink was supposed to be ready, but no one asked me about my order while I was standing next to the designated mobile order pickup area.
I understand that inventory can run low, but it was frustrating that the mobile app allowed me to order a drink that was not available. It would have been much better if I had been notified through the app that the drink I ordered was not available. When I was offered another option, I didn't have time to wait for them to make another drink since I was out of time due to the employees ignoring me while I was waiting. They also had no ability to cancel the order since it was placed through the mobile app.
The lack of communication and consideration for my time was disappointing, especially since I was a loyal customer and mobile app user. I hope that Starbucks will take steps to prevent this from happening in the future and improve their mobile app and customer service. They need a way to notify the customer immediately when the store realizes they are sold out of an order that was placed. And they need a way to cancel an order if an alternate option is not found.
I read some of the reviews of this Starbucks location and I see that many other customers have also had poor experiences. I actually think the employees themselves are decent people. They seemed apologetic about what happened. It seems like they were victims of a poorly designed Starbucks mobile app.
I think lack of proper training by Starbucks for their employees may be the biggest factor. In a case such as this where an item is sold out, they should communicate among themselves to be on the lookout for the customer who was affected so they can offer an alternate drink as soon as possible instead of making them wait. As I mentioned, I politely waited for 5 minutes next to the pick up area and I was making eye contact with 3 different employees to see which one would ask me which order I was waiting for, but each person turned way to do something else. Furthermore, as soon as an item is sold out, they need to update the mobile app status so that customers don't try...
Read moreThe experience was bad. The employee behind the register was extremely rude, wouldn’t help me when they were out of something and once I was done with ordering, she bothered to mention that it will take at least 15 mins because they have the queue AND the mobile orders. Didn’t bother to say that to a person in front of me but then lectured me about how busy they are. Rude, condescending, unkind and unhelpful. The barista giving me the drinks was nice tho, shame they have such a rude person on the register. The whole experience could have been way better, especially if I had ordered mobile since 1. I wouldn’t have to deal with the rude cashier 2. I would have gotten my...
