I work at SFO. I therefore eat at SFO quite a lot. Today's experience reminded me why, despite the good quality bread, I never go to Boudin.
The service is terrible. I mean, really and truly awful. These employees clearly hate their jobs with a passion. They may be praying for unemployment.
It actually wasn't that busy when I went in. No lines and a few people in there. I had pre-ordered two meals online, each with a sandwich, a bag of chips, and a cookie (not that those are any kind of combo deal; just mentioning what my order entailed).
There was one customer in front of me when I went to the pickup line . He was clearly deeply confused/upset about some aspect t of his order, because he was inspecting his receipt and muttering unhappily. No worker offered to help him despite his being there quite a while. When he finally moved aside--again, clearly unhappy--I stepped up to the counter. There were available staff, but none made any attempt to make contact with me, so I simply grabbed the two sandwiches that were there labelled with my name.
Of course, my order involved more than two sandwiches. I grabbed my own chips out of a rack. No staff attempted to interact with me.
I next stood in the queue next to the point of sales in near the pastries. (Oh, did you think that ordering online and paying in advance would mean that your order is ready for you to pick up? HA! Better build multiple lines into your expectations and not chance it if your flight is leaving soon).
The staff member, when he eventually deigned to pay attention to me, told me to get in the coffee line. I told him I ordered online and just needed two cookies. I showed him my email receipt. He shoved a single cookie in a bag and tossed it to me before taking someone else's coffee order. I waited until he was done and reiterated that my order had TWO cookies. I again showed him the receipt. He scrutinized it carefully before scoffing and shoving a second cookie into the little pastry bag. I asked for a bag for my whole order, since two sandwiches, two chips, and two cookies is a bit much to juggle. He snorted and turned away. He helped other customers while I stood there.
When he finally once again deigned to pay attention to me, I reiterated that I'd like a bag. He finally chucked one at me.
For this, I paid 15% tip?! Why?! This was a self service transaction with none of the time saving elements. Come here for rudeness and time wasting.

I ordered a California veggie sandwich without cheese, onion and pesto. I sat down to eat it and it had, cheese, onion and pesto on it. I took it back and pointed to the instructions and he looked at me like I was wasting his time, and he asked if he should just pick the cheese off. I was so taken back with the suggestion, I asked how he was going to pick the pesto off. He repeated, should I pick the cheese off, I repeated, how are you going to pick the pesto off. We repeated this a couple more times till he said is a sterner tone, shall I pick the cheese off or do you want me to make you a new one. I said a new one please. He stared at me while he dramatically dropped it in the bin and said, that's all you had to say.
Once he finished making the new sandwich, I asked him if it's got avocado on it as I couldn't see it. He said yes it's got avocado on it, relax.
As my son in law said, you don't have a choice of where to eat at the airport, so customer service...

April was unhappy to give me a refund and was reluctant to do so and made it seem like it was a pain and not easy to do. Groaned, huffed and puffed, looked very annoyed. There was not enough staff to man the prep kitchen. I ordered a clam chowder bowl and somebody else took my order and I waited for 20 minutes to see when my order will be done to be picked up, by the time I found out the man took my order, I told April about it but she basically disregarded my concerns and looked very annoyed at me and did not offer to make me a new bowl and left the bowl that the other customer touched on the pickup table. It was just a very unpleasant and unsettling feeling which made my decision to ultimately not return in the future. Customer service def lacks in this department. Please re train staff on how to treat customers better and to move a little faster when making orders because they were working very slow which resulted in a long line backed up with orders...
