Roasting Plant’s prominent and custom roasting setup caught my attention. Named Javabot, their in-store system roasts, brews, and automates bean management.
You can see the selection of single origin green beans in large vertical tubes and watch them roast and move through into the roaster. When a cup is ordered, the roasted beans move through tubes to the grinder and are brewed immediately. The future is now!
I shamelessly admired the process for a good five minutes and finally ordered a cup to taste myself. You can even make a custom blend of beans.
I got a small cup of the Sumatra Red Supreme Badger. It was intensely smooth, with medium acidity, and the fresh roast allowed the full body to shine.
Service was fine, and I got my cup of coffee a few seconds after paying. It was almost too quick?
The negative reviews mention matcha, chai, mocha, and other drinks...but why would you try those when it’s all about the fresh...

I would not recommend spending the additional $2 to get you espresso made with Jamaican blue mountain coffee though. It’s such a talked about coffee that I had to try it, but $5.95 for a poorly made, overly sour, watery, and gross shot in a paper cup was a huge rip off. I assume that it would be better as a drip coffee. But there should be some guidance if the coffees wont work for certain preparations. Maybe these locals like their watered-down putrid coffee...💁 However, both my husband and I thought it was perfect! Taste- exceptional! Quality- Beyond Starbucks garbage pail boring a* coffee for boring a* people. Unfortunately, San Francisco isn't the place to earn respect as a coffee connoisseur..no love! Bland people, rude customers, I don't know how you guys manage but you rock! Keep up the great work ( from one intellectual minded, common sense, knows a great coffee experience when we see one...
