My name is Liliana Cox and I purchased a radio system from your company back in June 2023. On Thursday October 3rd, 2024 the whole system just stopped working and was restarting over and over again. I came to your Salem, OR store. As it is the closest store to where I live. I live 4 hours from the store, and I had an appointment set up at 10am on 10/05. I dropped my car off on the 5th at 10 am. After waiting 2 and a half hours and never receiving a phone call from the shop, I called to see what the updates were. When I asked them why they didnāt call me to tell me my car was done, they said they called me twice and it went straight to voicemail, but they didnāt bother to leave me a voicemail. When I called for an update, I was told that it was just a ābad radioā and that there would have to be an auto claim filed before my radio could be fixed.Ā They said it has to go through corporate and they arenāt opened on the weekends.
Once I got back to the store I asked them why they couldnāt just fix it and then file a claim. I explained to them how inconvenient it is, they were super adamant about not fixing it until finally; Julian a manager, made some calls and was able to get it fixed for me. I was happy and content because after waiting the two hours and not having any clue what was going on, and then having to call and get the response of : āwell itās just a bad radioā. It was nice to know that there was someone there that understood where I was coming from. They said it would take 45 minutes to install and then I would be good to go. An hour and a half later and it finally gets fixed! I think Iām in the clear and finally can go home. I start it up and everything seems good to go, so I leave. Once I start to take a closer look, I noticed that the dashboard of my car looks like someone has taken a screwdriver and tried to pry off the main compartment of the radio. And part of my dashboard was exposed and ruined. (I have photos if you wanna see them) they also were not careful with any of my belongings that were in my car. I had a pair of prescription sunglasses and they were in between the seat and the door and easily could have been crushed!! I had a soda from McDonaldās that was 3/4 full that they had put on the floorboard and clearly it had spilt and it was sticky everywhere and did not bother to clean it up. Not even a few miles down the road I realize that ONLY one speaker is working and there is a terrible static noise coming from the right passenger side speaker. Also, when I called someone through my Apple CarPlay, they couldnāt hear me, only I could hear them. So I call Car Toys back and let them know Iām coming back and that it needs to be fixed.
I get back to the store and they tell me that they will look at it. After another hour of them looking at it, they came to the conclusion that all of the wiring had good connection and that the two speakers on the passenger side were blown. I then proceeded to tell them that the speakers worked before hand and that they werenāt blown before. They insisted that everything was fine and that they were blown and that there was nothing that they could do. I asked how much speakers would be and they gave me a quote. I feel like I shouldāve been given new speakers because of all the time and hassle and everything I went through. So I ended up with my radio fixed at the expense of my two speakers being broken and no one taking responsibility for what had happened. I need to be compensated for my time and money. My appointment was at 10 am and we didnāt finally leave from there until just after 5 pm. I wasted my entire day there to have nothing but problems to keep happening. I paid for a 4 year warranty and it seems like no one cared about that...

First i purchased the Remote Starter online showed and it clearly stated in red "FREE INSTALL" with the purchase of the remote starter, which Car Toys has been offering for a long time. When I showed up to get the install they said it would cost 350.00. I told them it shows free online, they were like "what, let me check," yet they have been advertising this for a year or more. They pulled up the remote starter online and it showed in clearly in highlighted red that "FREE INSTALL". Then they show me the small print "Price includes* Standard Installation* at any of our Car Toys stores. Transponder bypass is also included. Additional parts and labor may be required to complete the installation. See Store for details." I click on standard installation link, it only shows ""Please contact your local Car Toys store for more information about pricing for professional installation in your vehicle. Installing it yourself? You can purchase your deck without install from your local store at the online price!"" Then they show me some fine print on their computer that talked about does not include installation on 1998 and older models, which mine was 2000. I argued with the store manager and took about an hour to get them to give the free install, even though he was agreeing with me that it showed free install and he was not able to provide any evidence that it should not be free. FALSE ADVERTISING IS JUST WRONG!!! Now it's 10AM, where I arrived at the store about 9:15AM, as they stated they don't do appts, so come early, which I did. There was only one other vehicle there. So finally the Install tech took over my car and said it could take 2 hours or longer.. So now it's 6PM no update, had the car for about 8 hrs. So called and they said they are finishing it up and should be ready soon, we had to pull the tech several times. we will call when it's done. It is now 7:40PM and they have not called and the store closes at 8PM. So called and they said they should be done by 10 PM. So I talked to the asst. manager Tristen Beard and he claims they had other appts and I didn't make an appt and just showed up. I told him he is lying, as I advised him I know you don't do appts, as that what I was told. He finally admitted he lied but said we had big projects planned, lie again, because they don't do appts. So what happened is they were taking care of the customers that are paying more, and not working on my car. Then they tried to keep throwing back at me that they gave me free install. I told him that was already handle and we are talking about not working on my car but working on other customers that came in after me. If I wouldn't have called I wouldn't have had a car for tomorrow, who does that? You bring in car to have a remote starter put in, and they don't install it until after the store closes and I have to work at 6AM the next morning. Furthermore, I doubt they were even going to call me with any updates, as I had to call them each time.. I asked for some type of compensation, gift card or better yet everything free, but all I got was "we are working with you." I HAVE NEVER BEEN TREATED SO BADLY BY ANY COMPANY, EVER. I WILL NEVER SHOP AT CAR TOYS AGAIN AND TELL EVERYONE TO AVOID THEM LIKE...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe purchased a Groupon for a car detailing. We hadn't heard of Car Toys doing detailing, so we decided to give then a try. We have a minivan, so we paid for a larger car to be detailed. They up sold me on some leather conditioning for the seats. It was $40/row, so I. Opted to only do the first row of seats.
When I called, they were able to fit us in the next day. I was told it would take 4-5 hours. They called me to let me know it was done after 2.5 hours.
When I went to pick it up, I noticed several areas they missed. They had asked at the beginning if there were any areas they should give special attention to. I said the back seat tracks and all of the cup holders. These were the two areas I looked at first after they were done.
Both areas weren't even touched. I hadn't checked the back row of seatsas they had put it down and layed all of the car mats on top. I figured they had cleaned the seats prior to closing them. There were also other concerns I had that weren't cleaned (insides of doors, cleaning spray residue on windows, sides of chairs not wiped down).
They offered to have me come back the following day to fix the areas I was not pleased with. I figured I would give them a chance to fix the issues. I like being able to give someone a chance to fix problems before rating. I was also glad that the manager saw what I was concerned with, and that I wasn't out of line with my expectations.
I brought it back the next day and they took 2 hours fixing the problems. They did a nice job with the areas of concern that I knew of, and the front seats and dash looked nice.
BUT WAIT FOR IT!! I get home, take the mats out of the back, put the back seats up, and they are filthy. They didn't even touch them. At all. They also didn't clean the trunk area that the seats sit in. They also didn't get the insides of the sliding doors, and cup holders. You would have had to shut the doors while in the car to get to these.
My husband was really disappointed. He spent an additional hour cleaning the seats, trunk, doors, and backs of chairs that they completely neglected.
We did our best to clean up prior to taking it in. We knew our kids had made a mess, but this is why we spent the money to get help cleaning it. We took out all of the trash, and loose objects so all they dealt with was the car.
The job they did was NOT detailing. They did a fine job wiping down most of the car. The initial job that was done could have been done by me and my kid. The second go around was only a little better.
I'm grateful we had a coupon for the services, as I would be calling back and requesting a partial refund for the inadequate labor.
The people there were mostly nice. The detailing crew was very kind and willing to work with me. I'm at a point however, where I will not be back. Maybe they're grateful for that, but at this point, I would not have paid someone more than $50 to do what they did for me.
I wanted to like them, I wanted to be able to go to them when we needed our car detailed again, but I guess we'll have to find a different source that lives up to the term detailing rather...
