I wasnāt going to write a review but after a repeated incident and the manager not calling me, I decided I needed to follow through and write it. I went to the Saturday 9:30am Zumba class a few weeks ago. I got there early enough to grab a spot in the front of the class. As I was waiting for the class to start, another student walks in and tells me that Iām in her spot and I needed to move. I told her that I was not moving and itās a first come first basis on where we stand and I show up early so I can get the spot I prefer. She stood right next to me where she was almost touching me. After class I spoke with the instructor Terri and explained what happened although Iām sure she knew what was going on. Today I went to the class and the same thing happened with the same student. We had a few more words. She wanted me to move from her spot. I told her that I pay my membership just like her and I got there early and would not move. Iāve never been to a gym where anyone has specific spots reserved. She continued to say that they did there and that I needed to adjust to them. She then mentioned that she knew that I had texted the instructor after the first time I took her class. Apparently Terri texted her to tell her what she and I discussed. I told her I hadnāt text Terri and I called Terri over and asked if I had text her, Terri said no. I told the student that I had spoken with Terri after the class not texted her. I had to leave the class early this morning but I stopped and filed a complaint with the girl in the front desk. She said she would pass on the information to the manager. I called them a few minutes later and asked that they have the manager call. Instead I received a call from the instructor asking me if I had filed a complaint. I told her yes and that I didnāt think it was right for her to text the student after our discussion. In my opinion, it was very unprofessional. Terri kept saying that there was plenty of room for everyone and that I had some room to the right of me. The point is not that there was room for me to move, the point is that if I, or any other student shows up earlier than others and finds their spot, that they should not be asked to move because the spot belongs to someone else, it's so ridiculous. The person who shows up later needs to find a different spot. This is how it works in all the other gyms. I am a member of Axiom and attend Zumba classes at three of their facilities. I am also a member of the YMCA and attend Zumba classes at the West And South Y. Iāve been taking Zumba classes at Axiom for years and if I get to a class and someone else in a spot that I typically like to be, I find another spot. I do not tell that person to move because theyāre in my spot. Thatās Zumba and gym etiquette! I had been trying to get my Zumba friends to join me at this Crunch location because I do love Terriās class but itās very clear that they are not welcoming new students. As I told the girl at the desk, the only reason Iām not canceling my membership is because I will use it when I visit Californiaās location. I hope Terri informs all her students verbally and electronically that no one has reserved spots in her class and I would expect management to place a sign to that effect, as well. I hope that if I decide to attend the class again, this issue is fixed. Enough with the cliques, weāre all adults and donāt need to deal with these types of...

Spoke with the manager and found out that they were out for an extended time frame which is why my email went unreplied to.
The manager addressed the issues and explained that turnover occurred and they are working to get caught up.
I was offered some time to try again and see if changes were noticed and then offered the same plan at the same price should I wish to continue on.
I appreciate the call and the concern and will give a chance to allow for changes. I am changing review based on the call and will update again once I have used the time provided.
Thank you, Shawn
Needs work, big time.
You'll notice I didn't put down any specifics, and that is because the entire place needs work.
Management, staff, cleanliness, equipment, you name it, it needs work. If you expect a response from an email you send through the website, don't hold your breath. It took 5 days before I decided to just call, and was immediately provided what I emailed about. Club cancellation.
By the way...no what happened, what can we do better, just OK. Its done, have a nice day. I had really hoped to see an improvement in the place from when Crunch took over Idaho Athletic, but it did not happen. Sure, the coat of paint looked nice, and the crossfit room looked nice, but the little bit of equipment added upstairs and the overall cleanliness is concerning. The equipment is dirty, the floors under and around the equipment are never vacuumed or dusted, as there were constantly dust piles laying around.
I was hoping to talk to a manager to go over what reasons I had for leaving, which is why I sent the email the way I did, the manager that answered the phone couldn't have cared less. I believe it just shows there is no concern for the customers and instead of finding anything out, it was just easier to cancel on the spot. Which again, I appreciate.
There are other facilities out there that do care and want to know about your experience in their place of business. I'll see if I can find one of those.
Thank you for...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreSometimes I wonder why I still workout here... Do I subconsciously believe that I don't deserve good things? Am I scared of the confrontation of trying to cancel my membership? Am I too lazy to seek out something new?
All I know is that I have complained about this gym for 3 years so much so that everyone I know, knows how I feel. I mean... it's so awful that it's almost funny. Here are a few of the highlights:
Mold. Bugs (not just one bug... bugs... with an "s"... lots of bugs) in the shower. No air conditioning in the hottest parts of the summer. Constantly broken machines. The dirtiest floors I've ever seen. (And I used to be a bartender.) A pool that has been "broken" for years. The jankiest treadmills known to man. That one time I asked for a machine tutorial, got roped into a personal trainer, and they gave me the one with a BROKEN ARM who could literally not demonstrate the machines or do any personal training. Oh and also, that one time I asked to tan for 10 minutes and the front desk person who has ONE JOB forgot to push the activate button and I had to call the front desk from the tanning bed to remind him that I was in the tanning bed waiting for him to push the button. Honestly, the most disgusting ladies bathroom's I've ever seen. Poop. Blood. You name it. That one time the fire alarm went off and continued to go off for a ridiculous duration without any explanation from staff. Why is it always so humid in the locker room? On any given day, you might find that there's no soap or no paper towels in the bathroom. This is especially gross considering my previous comment. See list item number 10.
I know that I have nobody to blame but myself. I continue to go here hoping the pool with open up, hoping the treadmills will be upgraded, hoping that I wonāt walk into a biohazard zone in the ladies room. Perhaps I am a hopeful fool⦠or just a lazy, self-loathing person who goes to the gym closest to her house and complains about it to anyone who will listenāincluding the...
