I have given this store so many chances. I really want to like this place, it is so close to my home and has everything I’m looking for. I stopped by last Saturday to see if there were any leftover pre-release kits from the latest MTG set. I was told they were going to be hosting their last sealed event for the FF set on Wednesday and the manager told me if there were any prerelease kits left he would sell me one or two depending on how many were available. Long story short I show up on Wednesday and was told there was one pre release kit left after the event had started. I said great! I’ll take it. The guy at the counter told me he couldn’t sell it until he heard back from the store manger what they planned to do with it since it’s a sought after set. So I wait another hour in the store but no answer from the so called manger. EVEN THOUGH HE TOLD ME ON SATURDAY ITS MINE IF THERES ANY EXTRA. I was told to go home and check back on discord around 9pm. So I did and yet again received no answer. I then called the store around 9:15pm and was told that the manger hadn’t replied. I then caught the drift of the employee. He was clearly saving it for himself or someone else he knew. He told me I can’t put my name on a list for the item and I had to check back in the morning. So my mother in law arrives at the store when they open at 10am today and lo and behold, according to the employee, someone just happen to show up right after I called at 9:15 the prior day and bought the pre-release kit. So tell me… why were you able to sell to that person and not me if you still hadn’t heard back from your manager?? Seems like it was a game to them the whole time. Either that or the employee himself bought it to re-sell.
I will never support this store again. My first few times in I was offered no assistance even after standing next to the MTG case for over 15 minutes each time. This store is wack and if you’re a regular I HIGHLY recommend you look for a local place like Boardwalk or Dragon Lair.
In closing, the popularity of ANY product should have NOTHING to do with whether or not they’re willing to sell their last item of the aforementioned product. And then being told it wasn’t possible to purchase them. Then being told later they were presold after being told there was no preorders. Nothing but lies and excuses. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!! Asking if a product in stock isn’t intimidation. A simple no would have sufficed. EDIT. Since the owner wants to hint that I was attempting something wrong. I called prior to a game coming out to see if this store would be carrying it. I was told yes they would but to call closer to release for stock info, as they were not taking preorders. At launch, I called the store to see if a product was in stock. I was told that it was in stock but it couldn't be sold due to not being in the register. I asked when it was going to be added, and was told that corporate had to add it to the register. (This is a lie per Game Kastle Corporate Customer service, there was no issues with registers regarding the product. )I was told to check back after the weekend. On Sunday, I called back to confirm stock before coming to the store. I was told they will have some Monday and it will be added to the register by then. I went to the store first thing Monday morning, only for the store clerk, Justin to tell me it still wasn't added to the register. I was then instructed to talk with a manager named Westin, and my name and number was taken. No one called back. I called back to speak to said manager at the appointed time, only to be told he doesn't work on the day they told me to contact him. I asked again about the status of the product, if it had been added to the register. The female employee then proceeds to tell me that no preorders were taken, and no stock was available due to all stock being sold to "The owner's discord members. Read moreSo this past week I tried to get some Disney Lorcana cards so I could play with my little sister since I grew up LOVING Magic the Gathering. After doing some research to look up where I might find them, I called to 3 different places to get them. All said no. Feeling defeated, I talked to my old magic group to see if anyone knew of any other place. One very loyal friend suggested this place. I called on Friday (August 18TH) where they said because they are a franchise based in California they didn’t have it in the system yet. So I called back on Sunday and talked to some who said to try again Monday. Me and my father both drove up there and waited in the parking lot for almost and hour and a half when Justin (a really nice guy) told us that they still weren’t in the system but that the manager (Westin) would be in at 3pm. He took my dads name and number and said he would call or text him with any news. We went home and still hadn’t heard anything but 4pm so I called just to ask if it had been added to the system. A lady answered and said that they did have some that were prepared for and so I passed the phone to my dad so she could tell him the other things she was telling me because I was very confused. While talking to home she let slip that the owner of this particular franchise location hadn’t been telling any of the employees what was going on and had been taking orders on this “personal discord”. After saying this, she gasped, realizing what she said and that she probably shouldn’t have said it, they hung up.
