"I typically don't like to be overly critical in my reviews, but I had a disappointing experience at this shop today. The staff made the mistake of quoting me GameStop's price before revealing the amount they were willing to offer me. As someone familiar with GameStop's reputation for taking advantage of gamers, I have a strong dislike for the company. Also why they're failing and headed towards bankruptcy.
To make matters worse, this shop added an extra two to three dollars on top of GameStop's already low prices. It was a double insult to me. I can easily sell one of those games for $50 on the Facebook marketplace, yet they wouldn't even offer me half of that for six games.
If I recall correctly, GameStop is currently not accepting trades or purchasing items due to their financial troubles. While this information might have changed since I last read about it, I don't believe much has improved for them in the long run.
Unfortunately, this seems to be a common trend among game shops nowadays. They fail to recognize that customers can see the prices at which they resell the games they purchase. More often than not, they resell these games at almost retail prices, while only offering me a fraction of that value. It's truly insulting. Furthermore, the absence of any room for negotiation brings them closer to the corporate America stereotype, which doesn't sit well with gamers like me.
Usually, I would give them an average review. However, this time, they only offered me around $20 for six games. Ironically, during my walk home, I managed to sell two of those games for three times the amount they offered. It's high time game shops step up their game. I understand profit margins and that they can't offer full value, but insulting customers with corporate America prices will cost them loyal business. As a result, they'll miss out on any future sales I would have...
Read moreTruthfully first impressions walking in seemed nice, but then I began talking with the storekeeper. I went in to see about selling a couple of old games that I don't have systems for, as well as an old pokemon card. At first the conversation went well, she informed me of the price of the games and what she could offer me for the games. When I showed her the Pokemon card I had, I explained that I didn't really know what it was worth and it was looking to price possibly sell it, she then informed me and I quote "I don't do research for people, that's what the internet's for." Granted I had looked it up and I had even explained that I had looked it up and couldn't find much on it, also explain how I was told I could have it graded which could increase the value and so on. She then wanted to tell me based off of her opinion that the card was pretty much worthless and that I shouldn't even waste my time getting it graded and proceeded to sit there and tell me after the fact of telling me what she could give me for the original games that unfortunately she is not going to buy them because she doesn't want to buy low ticket items. My final question was if there was a possibility she carried AV cords for the Nintendo 64, Finn informed me they did and that they were $15! This place is a price gouge like no other you can buy the same exact cord brand new online for $6. Her demeanor came off extremely rude, that and I don't believe that she should have made an offer and then counteracted it at the end. Overall just needs better customer...
Read moreNice selection of used games and posters. Customer service was horrible if not rude. This is the second time I've visited here. The first time , I stopped in briefly, looked briefly at their inventory. I was leaving and asked if they had a card for their hours or phone number, and was told, " it's on the door". I went out and looked at the small post it note on the door with thier hours on it. Not very noticable. Then I was given a 15 % off coupon with the phone number. I came back the second time today. I said " Oh, you have old vynl records! " The girl said " Yeah, it says music and games, I suppose we better have music to sell ". I told her we liked old records as well as amps for our familys guitar playing. It has a deeper sound. She said records don't sound better just crackly and are less convienent. Not the best thing to tell your customers about your own merchandise. We bought $85 (with tax) worth of merchandise. We gave the girl $100 bill, and she said " do you have anything smaller, or a card? " They didn't have $15 in change. I mentioned to her and showed her the coupon she gave me the last time when I had first walked in this time, but forgot to give it to her checking out. The prices were somewhat high also. We were shocked by her rude attitude. We won't be back. We have a large family of teens/20s retro game fans, that spend time at old arcades and buying games. We'll be spending our money elsewhere where it's...
