Shortly after our family moved to Vancouver, Washington over forty years ago, we visited Handley Rock & Jewelry Supply in Hazel Dell. I have personally visited their shop regularly over the years. When I enter their store I immediately feel a sense of the staff totally enjoying what they are doing. Each of their employees has a wholesome interest in assisting customers in making decisions based on their particular needs and customers are treated as though they are the only ones to walk in to their store that day. With regard to their offerings, they have minerals for children that are a dollar or less, all the way up to museum quality specimens that serious collectors desire to own. I have personally, while in their store, witnessed employees explaining to children about the nature of rocks, gems and other wonders. They do so in such a way that perhaps as these kids grow up, they will be encouraged to pursue a career in science or related fields of interest. I have found that the prices charged for their very wide variety of choices are very reasonable and I have purchased many rocks, fossils, gems and other items from them over the years. Handley's has experts in many subjects about what they sell. Each specialist provides their customers with, as in the case of gemstones, the opportunity to know details about the particular gems they are considering buying. Whenever I visit their store I sense the feeling of joy that many customers are experiencing. A visit to Handley Rock & Jewelry Supply will be a rewarding experience for everyone who stops by this marvelous...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI never write google reviews, but I heard really great things about Handley's and had really great customer service from Tom the first time I came in and bought some things I was really happy with. Today I came back to have some coral jewelry looked at and trade out something I got for a different size. When I walked in to look at different sizes of Larimar the older lady there was immediately rude to me and acting like I was in the way. She was super inconsiderate when I was asking questions to get the correct size of the Larimar I brought, and when I said that Tom told me to bring my coral jewelry in she acted offended and told me they don't do that?? She assumed that I couldn't afford what I was looking for and made me incredibly uncomfortable. I planned to shop around more that day for Christmas presents but left as soon as Tom came to help. 2 stars for Tom's help, but you should not treat customers this way, and reading other reviews it seems like this is a common occurrence here. I would like to return as I think the variety and prices are pretty decent, but the older lady should retire already and stop being antagonistic...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis one was a sleeper for me. I've passed by the shop a couple times, meaning to go in and check it out but just never got around to it. Fast forward a year later and I have the opportunity to stop and browse. Should have done that a year ago, the store seemed small and unassuming, particularly with the sign in a state of disrepair on 1 side. That being said once you step foot into the Abyss, MA there are tray a point tray in case upon case of stones from around the world as well as many locals both rough and polished cuts. There are many books informative guides and accessories as well, including cases for display cases for finished stones jewelry supplies to sell polishes grits pliers price tags, pretty much anything you could possibly think of in relation to working gemstones from raw to a finished product. Many stacked trays and a wonderful case of specimens around the world including many rare items, make sure and ask to have someone show you how to properly use them, so you can observe the whole tray and...
