Having spent alot of money there, I willnot be returning. I purchased 3 fiddle leaf figs from them over the past year. 2 out of the 3 are ā sickā with some sort of leaf/ root issue that I have just finally been able to nurse 1 of those 2 back to health. The other one, the roots were black and brown crust, had already been cut on by someone else before. Fungus all over the roots. I went back to them with pictures and asking for help and the lady in the greenhouse was so rude. Pretty much didnāt even acknowledge me, look at me when I was talking, told me to quit worrying about my $150 tree I was obsessing over it to much. I told her it had spider mites and she tried arguing saying it didnt and it was regular spiders. When she didnāt even see my tree at my house with all the tiny webbing on the bottom of the leaves that kept coming back and causing stress to my tree! I made the mistake of going back to them 2x after that maybe thinking she had just had a bad day. Nope! The very last tree I got from them was for my birthday. I had it for only 5 weeks and had all the perfect conditions for it. Out of nowhere, black and brown spots took over the under and tops of the leaves. I was unsure of what to do so I decided to repot and see what the roots looked like. The soil was hard as a brick when they brought it to me, that should have been my first sign the tree was sick. I got the rootball out of the soil all to find crusty fuzzy brown and black roots. Breaking off in my hand. Dry as a bone. Like burnt almost. Never seen anything like it. Like someone had poured acid on them the last time it was repotted. I inspected closer and saw that the black brown funk was moving up into the bigger roots. The larger roots had been cut before And basically for a tree her size, 3 trunks together, had only 1 large root because the other 2 were cut off. I thought that was odd. So they obviously cut it back before due to some disease or whatever. I will have to wait and see how she does. I will be VERY surprised if she makes it. Which sucks because I just paid $160 for the tree 5 weeks prior!!! Iām not even going to attempt to take it back because they talk to you like you are dumb and donāt know anything. They will deny anything was wrong with the tree and look at you like youre an idiot. I know because it has happened every time Iāve been. The only issues I have is that several coworkers were rude and too busy to stop and listen and actually try and help/ educate. And that they are putting out plants that are potentially sick. Like I said, the soil was so hard when I got it from them I couldnāt even get my moisture meter through it. Thatās not a good issue to have. I willnot return there for lack of quality of service and plants with issues. Iāve had luck with 1 out of the three trees I bought there and did nothing different for any of them. I have spent over $500 there and I will drive all the way to mount pleasant from now on to get healthy quality plants. And service. Utterly disgusted at how rude they were, I was blown away. I have spent hours upon hours educating myself about the simplistic care of the FLF, which is actually very low maintenance if you leave them alone. I use filtered water for watering, only water when my meter reads 1, have them in east/ south sun exposure, no drafts around them, not sitting in water, they actually sit up off the floor and the water falls into a tray, not sure how much more perfect it could get for them. Iām curios to see how well one thrives bought from a different nursery. I canāt speak for the rest of their nursery. The man inside was SO helpful and kind. Their plants and flowers appear to be healthy otherwise. But the greenhouse needs...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI lhave lived on james island for over 25 years, and have always enjoyed going to Hyamās; hiwever, this year I have been 4 times and have got the worst customer service and plant quality. They have continuously overcharged for plants, claiming the reasoning being that they are charging 3 times the amount of the smaller pot because of the size iof the pot-even though the plant was smaller and had clovers (weeds) taking up time entire pot-with only one stem of actual flower. When I got to my car and realized, this, I brought them back in to show them with only a āsorry, maāamā, I cannot help you?!
This is after going there twice in one week, asking for help with identifying a certain flower, and the āvery bus lady running around always asks me if I need help-then barely listens to me or answers my actual question-just moved on to pushing more plants around and telling other employees that they need to start doing the same. Other customers were trying to get out of her way, and we were all just looking at eachother like , āwhat is wrong with this womenā??
Very disappointed and would NOT RECOMMEND going here, something has happened with their staff and they are not helpful at all-like they used to be,,,,they are just busy pushing plants around and demanding their staff to do the same?
And weeds in the plants, I cld just go to Loweās OR WALMART for that. And when I took the time to come back in and show them that I was unhappy with the pricing, they shld have seen it for what it was and charged me the measly $ 5 less. They voyld have cared less if they had a happy customer. NEVER GOING BACK, employees are too rude and busy. Not the same place it used to be,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWent to Hyams today based on their info on the website. They were very conscientious earlier during the Covid pandemic with on line ordering and pick up... Same excellent selection and quality.
Now that things are opening up... And the Covid count is increasing again...I was reassured they were continuing to take safety seriously. Maintaining social distance. Masks and gloves on customers if they have them... And who at this stage of the game doesn't have them?
Check out was excellent. 6 ft. Markers were upheld... Staff wore masks and gloves... Plastic shields.
The garden area was totally different. Like no one ever heard of a contagious disease.
There were signs saying to keep 6 ft distance. My husband and I were the only people... Staff or customers.. with gloves. Very few masks... Saw one on a person who may have worked there with a mask. Social distancing was a joke... No one way lanes, staff not even attempting to maintain distance. Customers pretty much oblivious. Carts werent wiped down... Didn't see any cleaning supplies for anyone. Even though outdoors, it was under a semi roof with little air circulation. Just one big happy garden party
Did not feel safe... Or that Hyams cared about anyone but their indoor staff. 5 starts for their product. 0 stars for social...
