I have been a state farm customer for years, my parents were when I started driving and even they were shocked by the rates State Farm offered me. (as a new driver, with more than a couple of speeding tickets)
One time I had a problem with the policy and I was very upset with state farm, but Ted at the old office looked into it himself and figured out the issue was actually the DMV's fault. State farm had the right VIN, but the one in the DMV's computer wasn't even the right length! No idea how the DMV messed that up, but they wanted to charge me $120 to fix it... Ted sorted the whole thing right out for me.
Apart from that, it's been nothing short of phenomenal. They are always very easy to work with and extremely helpful. (Coming from a guy who has an antique motorcycle with vin issues, and doesn't own a car. Usually, you'd add a bike to an auto policy, so a lot of companies had no idea what to tell me...)
They regularly and repeetedly go above and beyond, help me out with late payments when I need it, and they are even getting me set up with renters insurance.
Legal liability and renters insurance together will cost me less than $40 a month!
I hear it's a bit more expensive for a car, but my mom told me if she gets one more ticket they might suspend her license, and state farms multi car discount is so good she could never switch to the general.
Not to mention the fantastic customer service, face to face, over the phone, and even over email, that you just don't expect from anywhere anymore. (*Face to face may be temporary unable, I'm not sure, but that doesn't seem to have slowed them down a bit)
Holly and Ted sent me from the old office. Leslie got me all set up with the new one. I don't think I've ever called and not had a good experience.
Wish I could say that much about...
Read moreLike most people who change insurance companies, I was unhappy. Over time, my venerable well known national, agency lost me in a computer driven electronic morass that I could only access by entering a username, a password and a pin on my computer. A phone call connected me with an automatic answering system that booted me off to a text link where I filled out a form on the side of Hwy 301 in the dark. And when I connected with a real live person, any interruption of the call meant when the discussion was resumed, it would be with a different person. Under the absolute best circumstances, I was a voice and a password. That changed when I responded to a call for volunteers to collect food for a local food bank. The call came from Melicca Dunn, a State Farm Agent in Charlottesville, Va. I was impressed with an insurance company so connected to the community. As I met her staff at other State Farm events, my appreciation of her as a business woman grew. She had selected capable people who shared her community values and commitment to service. They teamed up to find insurance options that suited me, some of which were new and others were replacements. Here was an insurance agency with a face, who knew me as a person and took time to hear me without a password. If I have a question, I can email or text her or one of her colleagues who also knows me. My car insurance rates are lower, but it's not the money for me. I was encouraged to enroll in State Farm’s safe driving program, which has made me a safer driver. It's having my own insurance agent who I trust as a person. Insurance is complicated. I want someone I know is looking out for me. I didn’t get to be 80 by ignoring...
Read moreI have been a State Farm customer for many years and I have never had an agent/office who performed as poorly. Every single transaction I made through this office was botched, and I have always had to be the one to discover the problem and have it corrected. Most recently I have been waiting over 2 months for a simple change a vehicle on my policy. They sent me a Drive Safe and Save transponder that is still assigned to a previous vehicle even though I signed up for the first time for that program as I was registering my new one. I learned that I will not be getting my DSAS discount for the two months of constant usage and will need to be sent a new transponder. It took them several weeks to get my uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage paperwork to me and then they claimed that I did not sign it and they were waiting for me to do so even though I submitted it immediately upon receipt. I transferred agents and they did not send any of my paperwork over after two weeks and I had to track that down as well. I have the simplest insurance for only one car and do not understand how difficult this could be, but literally EVERYTHING they ever did for me had a major problem associated with it. I do not recommend Dunn’s...
