Very bad customer service. Very snarky ticket clerks and ticket takers. Unclear rules on rated R movies. I made the mistake of being honest and saying I didn't want to see the movie, but was giving permission for 4 teenagers to see a rated R movie. The rude and unhappy ticket clerk then tells me that a "legal guardian or parent"must accompany. I told her that I was only the "legal" parent of one of the boys. She then told me that I was "responsible" for all of them. I then found a nice couple going to see said movie and they said they would take the teeens in with them. An irate ticket taker then did a drive by shooting and quickly ran past me and the nice couple and said "No way, now how are those boys going in to see this movie with HER. They won't get through my gate." Meaning me, I guess. My question is if it must be "legal" how are they checking all the kids coming through with parents? They were willing to let me go through with 3 boys that weren't mine legally, but they were not allowed to go through with customers that just purchased tickets and agreed to "be responsible" for the teens. Is just a way to force me to buy an overpriced ticket? Or do they have rules that are consistent? If they have consistent rules, how are they checking ID on all the "legal" parents or guardians. Simply, they aren't. And we were targeted today for no good reason. So, not only does the public buy an overpriced ticket, absurdly priced snacks, sit in a filthy seat, now we must deal with rules that are unclear and enforced at the will of uninformed and clearly unhappy employees. Too bad there isn't another theatre nearby. We are stuck with this substandard, unprofessional, typical, Sussex...
Read moreSo tired of the lame BS service everywhere. Stood in line to get the tickets that we had ordered online from the kiosk. Kiosk transaction went great, except it never actually spit out any tickets. Got the attention of an old battle ax slinging overpriced popcorn at the concession stand (posted signs said kiosk, box office or concession stand) and she croaked out, "You'll just have to get in line again." Checked at the box office, but there was no way to get the attention of the single person working there trying to serve a line of 20 people. Went to the other end of the concession stand and asked for a manager. Lady I was talking to wanted to know the situation. I told her. She disappeared for a minute, then came back and said, "She kejeh djdj he jufgj a minute." GF and I figured that was, "She'll be here in just a minute." Just a minute or two goes by and there's no manager so I catch the same lady's eye and she says, "She'll be here in just a minute. I just talked to her again." She eventually appears and says something like, "You needed help?" and gave us a dumb look, so clearly the issue hadn't been communicated. So we told her the situation. Then she goes over to a POS terminal with my phone for the barcode and says, "It says the tickets were already printed." Yeah, lady, that's what we just told you! Then she asked how many tickets we were supposed to have for what movie and printed them. So in the end, we arrived 9 minutes early for the movie and got in 9 minutes late, so we actually missed some. Still trying to understand why we can purchase online but then still have to print physical tickets only to walk 20 feet and have someone scan the...
Read moreMy opinion may not be up to date because it has been several months since my last visit... with good reason. Midway is a staple of beach vacations for many Delawareans, but the truth is it has not kept up with the times. Not only that but the service is poor, concessions over priced for the offerings, and the projection/screens poor quality. Firstly the carpet, décor and lobby is straight out of the early 90s. The employees in the box office are often either no present entirely, not paying attention or seem annoyed you are even there. The concessions are cash only, over priced and the popcorn is not fresh. Additionally they removed the fun flavors from the soda fountain, like Cheerwine and Pib. The screens are small, the projection grainy, even slow at some points, not matching with the sound recording. The entire theater needs a facelift and a new approach to business. Now on to the real reason I am not returning; the people who come to this theater, namely people 55+ who are entitled selfish and rude. I had a grown man kick my seat for a full hour because I whispered in the smallest voice possible to my sister (whom I was reuniting with for the Christmas holiday after months apart) to say 1. Do you need anything? 2. I am going to the bathroom and 3. Did I miss anything?. If you want complete and total silence, no people moving or breathing around you, STAY TF HOME! So to my reasonable people and/or people born after 1980...
