We came here for our daughters 13th birthday. We recognize that as a party of 8 we might be a little overwhelming. However our server did not also stay to take our order for any more than two minutes at a time. Our nine year olds food order was not only wrong but when it was replaced it was still wrong and because the plate was left at the edge of the table when she tried to eat it she was burnt by the plate. No first aid was offered until we asked for burn cream several times. The waitress knew the food was for a child and she dropped it off at our table. To top it off when our child did try to eat her food when we got back home and she calmed down, not only did we discover that the order was still wrong but there was hair in the burrito.
While I understand that my child’s burn isn’t as bad as it could have been (I’ve been a chef for almost 20years), it is completely unacceptable to me that a child was injured because of someone else’s carelessness. Picture of her burn included.
Edit to add it’s been over three weeks and no one has reached out to even apologize for...
Read moreThe service was extremely disappointing. After being seated and given chips and dip, we were left unattended with no greeting and no drink orders taken. There were only three other families in the entire restaurant, so it certainly wasn’t busy. We waited at least 15 minutes before someone finally approached us, standing a few feet away and abruptly asking if we were ready to order. While placing our order, I paused briefly to ask a question, but the server turned and attempted to walk away mid-order. I had to stop him and let him know we weren't finished. He returned briefly to complete the order and then rushed off without another word. When the food arrived, it was mediocre at best. The kids meals were burnt and tasted as if they were reheated. I got charged for sides even though the meal came with two sides. Throughout the meal, no one came by to check on us or offer drink refills. We had to flag someone down ourselves. Overall, the experience fell far below expectations, especially considering how empty the...
Read moreLa Tonalteca is a great place to get authentic Mexican food.
The turn into the lot from route 9 is very abrupt and small, so you might miss it. It's not a porbpem because you can just go into the Midway Speedway entrance and drive back over to the restaurant. Parking is very easy. There's a big lot, and it would be easy to find a spot even if it did fill up.
The inside is very ornate. The tables and chairs all have unique, colorful designs on them.
When you sit down, you'll get chips and salsa. They have a huge menu with lunch and dinner dishes. The prices are on the higher end. I had the enchiladas mexicanas. It comes with rice, refried beans, and a mound of lettuce. Everything was cooked thoroughly and seasoned well, but it came out really quickly, which was concerning. The chicken wasn't very high quality, and I had a bone in mine, but it wasn't that big of a deal.
Overall, it's a pretty nice place for...
