On Friday afternoon, 6/15/2018, my friends and I arrived around 3:45 for a 4:37 tee time. We waited in line for a bit, to check in, which was fine but seemed there was no sense of urgency. Furthermore, we smiled and thanked them for there time, but the gentleman helping us was grumpy as ever. My friend who arrived after us, said he stood in line for 15+ minutes just to check in, as well.
We talked out loud about hitting practice balls at the range, to find out the range didn't accept cash or credit cards, so we had to go back to get a 'code' for the range balls. That would have been a nice tip to throw in when we were at the front desk checking in.
We had gotten and paid for carts up front. when we asked if they would give us the keys, they said you can just take any cart that is out front. Our friend who arrived a little bit later was told the same thing, but there were none out there, so he searched on his own, for a clean one with out clubs, no one assisted him.
After we hit a few balls at the range, we heard our name called over the speaker so we went to the first hole tee box. When we went to drive through, the gentleman stopped us and asked where we were going? I said " to the #1 tee box." he responded rudely with a "No you're not!" I said we're the name you just called?, and he said, okay you can go through, but why that rude response to begin with?
When we finished up and dropped our carts off, we were walking our clubs back to our car, on a paved pathway, and a man moving 'dirty' carts through drove so close up behind us with out saying anything and then we noticed and moved out of their way. He spend on by with out saying a word.
The course was in good shape, and we enjoyed golfing it but the lack of customer service was a serious buzz kill, and will likely lead to different decisions on where we golf.
Smile, be polite and say thank you. Pretty...
Read moreIf given a single word to describe Racoon Creek—"Stunning" would come to mind immediately, and I only played the front nine. I got out there on 10/23/21 and the only view more beautiful than the course was my girl D— and the waves of joy she was broadcasting. We had a blast!
Going out the front 9 is just an awesome layout with gentle undulations, strategic bunkers, creeks and lakes and the fastest greens I've played on in several years (and I reside in Florida). Let's talk about the greens a bit. Beautiful, challenging and allowed a player like me, who can shape shots, to use every contour of the surface to get the ball to react and move closer to the pin. Super FUN!
The fairways are in exceptional shape (we walked, and I inspected) as are the green and bunker complexes. I played the forward tees with my gal but still found a great amount of challenge, even after almost driving several greens. (I'm so not used to the thin air and extra carry...at least 2 clubs according to a Marshall who checked in on us).
Greens fees were reasonable ($65 for the 2 of use with trolley's and a small bucket for the range). I would HIGHLY recommend walking this course, it is absolutely picturesque. Driving range and practice green were in excellent shape and the 2 gentleman in the Pro Shop were friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about the course.
One curious thing? No monoliths or signs at each tee box, so we had to ask a lot of other golfers about routing to next hole? Perhaps the monoliths are out for renovation?
Lastly, you guys out there struggling to find a venue for your wedding...look at Racoon Creek. My first time there but I was so impressed with the entire facility and the layout to showcase a bride and groom (we saw a bridal party getting pics done with absolutely stunning backdrops behind them). And the reception area looked awesome and had an outdoor dance...
Read moreAlways been one of my favorite courses and they have a wonderful practice facility. Plus they have the driving range open which most courses don't right now. But I was really discouraged to see exactly 2 people with masks on during the hour plus time we were there, and almost no social distancing with people there to practice or play. They were all walking right next to each other like they had never heard of CV. Even worse, when we checked in with the drink cart person to get balls and cocktails, no mask, no gloves, nothing. Same with the guy who brought our balls over to us. Hands all over the cups, the gin and tonic bottles, the beer cans, it was very strange. I can't help but think with that kind of "its too inconvenient for me" attitude, that we will be back in lockdown in no time and then no one gets to play.
My 85 year old mom lives with us and my husband is a Type 1 diabetic so we won't be able to justify playing there with such a lax attitude. We were really looking forward to it. Its unfortunate but hopefully other courses are taking things more seriously and have respect and caring for those around them, not to mention the front line workers that are the most affected by...
