It has been a few years since I have gone roller skating. Which is a shame because I used to go about once a week and I was invited to a few outdoor āpop-upā parties throughout Vegas when I was going regularly. These are when a DJ sets up an outdoor skate party around a smooth skating surface and a group of connected skaters has an all ages party, but mostly over an 21+ crowd shows up and a few awesome food trucks are on hand to feed skaters who work up an appetite. Anyhow, I laid low too long and got off the ācool kidsā list. š¢ā¤ļøāš©¹
Tonight, I tried out Skate Rock City because my two friends Marilyn from Monterey, California and Donna from Henderson, Nevada said, āIt is the SPOT!ā. Also, they said that Floyd Mayweather had saved it from going under and put a bit of money into it and that it has been a success! Good for himā£ļø
Anyhow, this place is on Boulder Highway. The website stated $10 includes skates, but at the door they charged me $15 with skates and explained itās $20 without. So, be prepared for that. One thing I really liked was the paperless legal release. Just scan a QR code sign and you are good to go in AFTER walking through a metal detector and passing a comprehensive wand check. On Thursdays from 7-10 pm itās over 21. That is my scene. I cannot have young kids trippinā me up.
Anyhow, I checked out the bathroom and bought a $3 water. (Pictured with custom TMT label). Both were very acceptable. Everything was well lit, working and the music was on point. The skating referee was doing a fantastic job. He even directed me to the middle because I didnāt want to skate fast and held my elbow to make sure I didnāt get knocked over by the speed skaters. He also used his whistle throughout to keep people safe. It was wonderful.
There were active security guards patrolling where patrons left their bags that they had brought their skates in and left personal possessions in while they skated. No one was ārestingā on the job. It was good clean fun. People were friendly, welcoming and very professional. I called ahead to check out if they only took cash. Apple Pay, credit card or cash were all acceptable forms of payment and the receptionist was very friendly.
The website features Mayweather but in tennis shoes not skates. A missed opportunity in my humble opinion but it is still a nice touch. There was a very nice ratio of males to females. This was not the case when I used to go. There were far more females. So, why is this? No clue šµļøā¦the owner?
I also noticed many couples together on dates. Note the videos posted. This was awesome to see. Generally people were out to have a great time. I did too. The parking is ample and the lot is well lit. Go...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIf I could rate this place a zero I would! I went there as a kid and was so excited when we moved nearby to bring my kids. So for spring break, I loaded up 8 kids and we went there. THIS IS NOT A KID FRIENDLY PLACE!!!
I didnāt know Floyed Maywether bought it and when we got there I was surprised to see so many adults. Then we got in a long line and I realized they were patting people down and scanning them with a metal detector for weapons... this send off a very strange non family friendly vibe. The guy in the front door and then the lady at the desk were very nice, but the girl at the counter for the skates was a bit rude, like she was already annoyed, which made my kids not want to go exchange their skates when the needed new sizes. Then my daughter got skates with no stopper and wouldnāt even go out, so I had to go back to the counter four times to exchange them because every pair they gave me either had laces that were too short to lace or the same stopper problem. The last time she told me she couldnāt fix it, because they were old skates, so I had to ask her just to keep checking for one that had a stopper. This is so ridiculous and unsafe for kids that are learning to skate.
Then to top that off we finally made it on the floor, and I was assisting my youngest around by the wall and the refs were whistling at us every time for being too slow or stopping, to the point where one of my kids got off after one lap and refused to go back. then another got off because the people were just rude, they were going around so fast and almost hitting you, I havenāt skated in years and it made feel uneasy, much less a bunch of kids who donāt skate much. After struggling with my daughter for a few laps, I realized most of my kids had sat down. One was in tears from the refs yelling at her for trying to learn, one had felt like someone was trying to trip him, one had been run into then yelled at, and one was just scared... they didnāt do any games, nothing like it used to be. THIS WAS A TOTAL WASTE OF MY $130 and Iām so upset I spent our spring break budget on it!!!! I will never go again and will try to tel everyone I can with kids to avoid this place...

I traveled by myself so there was no one to take pictures of me skating, and the next time that I go I'll make sure that I take pictures of the atmosphere because it's really important for you guys to see how amazing this place is. . .
The setup is phenomenal the functionality of the place is completely Feng shui.
It has this completely futuristic retrovibe that is timeless and you will automatically feel at home and welcome when you come to the place. It has its own rhythmic heartbeat that will keep you feeling motivated to stay in motion even when you leave the place!
There's nothing like a moment in time where you are in full control of your movement and the mood has been set by the perfect dj, the perfect lighting the perfect aroma of people in the air the smell of good energy something about the combination of food the sound of skates the rhythmic bodies and the protection that you have when you're in this crowd of flowing people, . in this current that is unimaginable and unfathomable unless you go experience it for yourself.
