Awe this place. So many memories. I grew up here. This was my Grandfather's house for my entire childhood. There were elephants here. Zebras for a time. Lots of horses over the years. I used to wake up and feed the horses with the apple trees scattered around. There was a 100 foot swing in the pasture. My cousin's would drive their high school trucks in the field. The original house barn was full of eclectic items like the world's oddest second hand antique store. The memories. So many Christmas gatherings with family from Ireland and farther. Birthday parties for an 8 year old meant endless go karts around the driveway. The garage was converted to a boxing ring at some point and would host old timer boxing gatherings. This was a place of family and friends.
Not knowing all the details because I was young, our family was sad when the city, ..."ether I donate the land or they will take it..." As grandpa put it. Regardless, in glad the land is a park I can take my children and they can take their children. It will never be the same without Grandpa there, but the stories will live on...
