I planned to meet a friend here to have breakfast before work and walked in at 10:30am on a Wednesday, nobody else in yet. I work downtown at a place that requires a formal dress code, to be clean shaven, etc.
The floors are pretty dirty with sticky/dirt patches, flies, etc, but it's an old diner and most dives/diners out here kinda have the vibe, so whatever.
When I walked to the front, the tall brunette maybe teenage girl with a brown hoodie at the front reached to stop me from grabbing a paper menu and told me that they don't serve walk ins, and that I had to order the day before. I could "order to go and leave right after", though.
I just curiously asked her if that's a real thing out here and she said yes. I've never had breakfast out here before so idk, maybe it's a Lake Oswego thing.
I went to look at ice creams and she stared at me from the register the whole time.
Fast forward 5 minutes and my party arrives, she sees her and immediately brings a full menu and cutlery and waits on her.
I walk over to sit with my party and she drops her head and walks away without listening to what my party has to order.
3 other parties show up within 10-15 minutes and she rushes to serve them, take their orders, etc, and puts in their orders.
She then comes back to us twice in 4 minutes to ask what we wanted to eat. I told her we need a few minutes and would like to not be rushed, so she never returns after that.
We did get a couple glasses of water, though.
I need to eat in the morning or my nausea gets the best of me and I throw up at work. So I decide to check reviews, and see that people have been getting sick a lot here lately, so I figure I'll roll my luck and skip food until I can get a break later in the day, since I lost my chance to eat before work and ended up throwing up on the clock.
Also another teenage coworker came in with a jersey, cargos, and sports cap smelling like weed and kinda milled around behind the counter the whole time I was there
Don't think I've had service this bad to date lol. Penny saved, though.
To management: if you're going to skimp on wages and exclusively hire teenagers, at least pick folks who need the job so they take it a little...
Read moreI've been coming here since I was in grade school maybe even before. Used to be THE spot after school functions (Riverdale alum) and special occasions. Now my elderly mother frequents this place weekly if not more. My mother is elderly and disabled. She came in tonight, struggling with her balance and someone was kind enough to help her in. However when she called me a bit later she said she thought she had been forgotton. I arrived to check on her and decided to stay. We waited a good 15 minutes or so and no one came over to us. Theres like 5 teens working and after a bit we were the only ones there. It felt like we were being ignored on purpose as they all stood around talking about what time to close and making jokes. I told my mother we should go and as we stood a guy behind the counter said "oh good. They are leaving" loudly and clearly. His coworker laughed. I believe he responded making fun of her tho i didnt quite catch it as the first one started laughing loudly. Grace kindly came up and asked why we were leaving and I told her what just happened. Although she apologized she litterally just turned her head and smiled at the coworkers who had just made the joke. I understand they are teens and this might be a first job but this is unacceptable and so appalling! So very...
Read moreI wanted to get tea here. I went and stood in line. Two parties cut in front of me and the person serving ice cream completely ignored me and served them anyway. Didnt even acknowledge my existence although she saw them do it. I gave up and left without tea after standing there staring her in the eye for 10 minutes.
Later my parents tried ordering food. After an hour of waiting for the order with no warning that the kitchen was backed up, their order came up. They could see that the cook let the server know it was up, but she ignored it. She counted register money, stacked receipts and went into the back while their food got ice cold after they had been waiting for over an hour with a hungry seven year old. Finally my mom lost it, chewed the server out, demanded a refund, and we went to Whole Foods for lunch having wasted quite a lot of time.
My parents had been loyal patrons here but will now not...
