While on a business trip to Houston from California, my iPhone stopped working. I took it to the closest repair place I could find this was the Ubreakifix on Katy freeway in Houston. I ONLY took it to a chain thinking I would be taken care of this was the farthest thing from the truth. My screen stopped working, the nice guy behind the counter couldn’t find what he was looking for and after calling another guy several times we agreed it would be $109 for an after-market screen replacement.
2 hours later when I went to pick up my phone, he said that the aftermarket screen didn’t work and they would have to install and OEM screen for $340. I have had several of these done before and knew this was not true. I told him to just put my phone back together and will take it elsewhere. After 10 mins he handed the phone back and I put it in my bag and enjoyed the rest of my one-day business trip.
When I got home to California the next day, I took it to a local shop. The local shop showed me when they opened it how they butchered the inside of my phone. The bracket holding the connections wasn’t in there as well as the Face ID/speaker. They explained to me that once this Face ID/speaker is taken out then the phone will never work with face id again. So, your shop in Texas essentially BROKE my phone. There were other things too like the batteries ribbon or whatever wasn’t even plugged in. $100 later for an after-market screen and $55 for some fixing of the motherboard which the guy said wasn’t burnt by itself meaning when the Ubreakifix in Houston opened it up they did some damage to it. My phone is working now without Face ID which is annoying. I called Ivan who is the manager of the Ubreakifix off Katy highway to figure out what can we do about this and he suggested that he send me the original face id to I can have the shop here install it. Well, I just got the “original” face id and its not for my iPhone X its for an iPhone 12.
So I ask you, how are we going to fix this? Ubreakifix not only didn’t fix my phone but they RUINED it, essentially STEALING from me. Please let me know how we...
Read moreOk I figure I owed this store a review. I had an ipad 9.7 inch screen fixed at the place. Prior to coming here, I went to a different franchise store closer to me ( I live in Alief, go figure it out). Whe I was in line at the previous store, the man in front of me had an iphone screen replaced but ended up having his microphone on the phone not working and he was told to bring it to whoever touiched it first and essentially disowned the problem despite being brought to the store with a functioning mic. Naturally, I didnt want to inherit the same issues being that my screen is replaced and having something else broken, I asked the salesclerk to test it and make sure that i get it back working. I asked about apple certification and he kept jabbering about being certified by other brands ut until pressed did he admit that they were not. The technician comes out and tells me to take it to an apple store. So I do my research again and these stores are essentially fracnhises, a lot of the quality and outcomes result from the owners themselves. Went to the Katy store whcih was a good half hour and explained my concern, the tall guy was quite reassuring in terms of having done it before, aslo warned me that there was a risk for the fingerprinting to break while they removed the glass and he tested the functions in front of me to reassure me that he went through the paces. Felt comfortable leaving my stuff in that store and 100% well worth the 30 minute drive back and forth to drop off and pick up. I would highly recommend this place and deservedly the 5 stars that the 2 reviews it has gives it. Unlike the previous store that I went to whcih has 4 stars despite haveing 35 reviews. Question you have to ask yourself is how important is a functioning cellphone to you and would an hour drive justify excellent work versus a risk no matter how small of it not...
Read moreBrought our iPad in to get diagnosed. The screen wasn't working properly. The gentlemen that took our appointment couldn't give me a price quote which was fine, I asked that they call us with a price once they diagnosed what was wrong. It's a few generations old and i was not sure it was worth putting the money into it to fix. They said they would call us the next day. A few days later (3-4days) they called to tell us it was fixed and ready for pick up without us okaying the repair or the cost. We eventually decided to pick it up and pay for it since the repair was already done and after going back and forth they did give us a slight discount on it. It felt like we had to pay for the repair since they had already fixed it without out knowledge or approval. They did offer to undo the repair. When we got home and turned the iPad on the screen did not even work. The whole left side was unresponsive. We called to let them now and was told to bring it back. I did the following day and was told they would replace the screen again and it would be ready the next day. Two weeks went by before they called to let us know it was ready. Within those two weeks we had to call several times for updates, never did they reach out to us. When we went to pick up the iPad they were trying to charge us again because whomever was checking us out didn't understand it was a warranty issue. Upon inspecting the iPad it was missing the screen protector which they had not removed the first round (not a huge deal But weird since they didn't remove it the first go around ). They also left what I assume is glue all over the edges of the iPad and was just dirty In general. Disappointing service. So far this new repair seems to be working but we probably won't be using their services...
