The people who own/work here are extremely cruel, rude, and callous. I think they even put fake positive reviews - why have so many of their positives only reviewed their shop?
A friend of mine who didn't know I could do the repair myself for $17, took my laptop in to have the screen repaired (although I told him NOT TO). They don't require a deposit or even proof that the item you are bringing actually belongs to you, so this person was able to drop off my laptop to be fixed..for $129!! HAHA the laptop didn't even cost me that much! Of course I was pissed at him when I found out, but thought they would be reasonable about fixing the situation.
First of all, when I explained the situation they were VERY COMBATIVE. First, they wouldn't even talk to me because they have no proof it was mine (The logon to Windows was MY NAME!) Then, they said there's nothing we can do, and even laughed and began to make fun of me by trying to engage the other customers. I was very calm (at first), telling them I didn't want to get the police involved (as this person was a friend), but in essence the computer was stolen from me and brought to them. They told me to go ahead and call the police, that they wouldn't do anything. At this point I knew that this (receiving stolen property) was probably something that has happened more than once -- if not why would they get so upset so quickly?
I tried to reason with them, telling them I was a business owner too, I understood they already fixed it, and it wouldn't be fair for me to just get the computer back fixed for free, but there was no way I would pay for that. I asked if it were possible for them to remove the screen and charge some sort of smaller fee. They said no because it was a speciality screen (yea right). So, I said fine, I'll take a loss - can I just remove my sensitive files from the computer. They said for $40 I could come back and remove those documents. I never returned because I actually live pretty far from Catonsville now, but called today to make sure my personal info was safe.
When I called today the person on the phone screamed "YES ITS HERE $129 TO GET IT" "ITS WAITING HERE" in a condescending voice. I asked him/her (couldn't tell) to stop yelling, that I just wanted to make sure my personal information was wiped from the computer. The person said all the information is wiped clean, they do that when they fix it. (Really, you restore factory settings to fix a screen? - Doubt it) Later, they said the computer was at the factory and they restore factory settings when an item is not picked up. So can I pick it up or is it already at the factory? I never was clear about that and I don't believe them. Since this whole thing was shady I am really concerned that my information can still be accessed by whoever gets the laptop. I hope its just sold for parts or is crushed somewhere. I don't even think it would be worth it to pay the $129 to safeguard my information because I don't trust that these people haven't already gone through my files.
In short, I hope that this review is enough to make you go somewhere else for repair. I will be satisfied if they lose $129 in business for being so rude to me. If these were decent people, all they had to do was let me wipe my documents from the computer. I understand they believe without them fixing the screen I wouldn't have been able to access those files -- but I wasn't even asking to access them at one point, I just wanted to delete all personal information -- what am I gaining? I am loosing a laptop and years of files. I am also losing photos of my deceased relatives.
Since I see they are quick to blame every negative review they have on some fake competitor, I know they are reading this. Please know your rude, cruel, uncaring business habits will cost you at least a few customers. So you have my $100 laptop, and in return will lose hundreds in business. If you were thinking of taking an item here and will not because of this review, please reply or let me know so I will feel better about...
Read moreNEVER GO HERE They said and I quote "we are waiting on the parts from apple they didn't have them at local stores so we had to order from California" as I was waiting three days for my phone to be repaired. My phone doesn't work. Yes the screen is fixed and that's all dandy but I can't even use my phone because it keeps shutting off. I called because why the hell was I quoted $550 to repair but when they couldn't successfully fix the issue I'm still paying $500. During the call I mentioned that I called apple and they ran a ton of diagnostics on my phone all resulting in basically saying they weren't genuine parts that were used and that this store isn't even certified to order parts directly from them which makes me wonder why they lied saying they were waiting on the parts from apple. I mention this on the call and he says they use "oen" parts. Once again, then why lie saying you were ordering from apple. Overall in the end he suggested me lie to Verizon saying my phone works perfectly fine (which is illegal and I pointed out but he has no regard for that clearly) in order to get a better discount on the phone. Yes they fixed the screen and replaced the parts, but they didn't fix the issue. My phone is still unusable and I'm out $530. He would not refund anything and while he had communicated with my boyfriend the options because I was at work, he did not communicate up front that he was using illegitimate parts. Id love to see the receipts on where he ordered the parts because while he claimed over the past couple days that they were from apple and being "ordered directly from apple" not only apple has confirmed otherwise but he had in the call today. At the end of the day he lied, multiple times and suggested me to lie and break the law. An ethics lesson is needed at this place. Had I brought it to Best Buy and they couldn't fix it they would've made me pay for the parts probably but honestly maybe not because they are a larger corporation but to be frank the fact that this guy didn't even fix the initial issue with my phone and then only gave us $50 off meaning I still put out over $500 for just a pretty phone to trade in is pathetic and disgusting. I would absolutely never go back here if you have anything more wrong with your phone other than a cracked screen. In addition here is my phone telling me that either the parts were illegitimate or installed wrong, and yes he tried to lie and make excuses to defend this as well all while constantly interrupting me to the point where I quite literally said "can you let me finish". Update when he was talking to my bf he apparently said that he could give us a bag of all the parts or put it together he never communicated that if he were to give us a bag of all my phone parts we wouldn't have to pay over $500. So of course my bf opted to have the phone put back together because why the hell would we pay $500 for a bag of metal. In your response you said that you never asked us to lie to Verizon.... well sir we can pull the phone convo you did in fact. And my response to you saying "just say your phone works perfectly fine and trade it in they'll never know" was "that's illegal". It is illegal and that is exactly what you suggested we do. What an interesting way to run a business. Regardless I am trading my phone in and letting them know everything that happened I hope you have a great night and sincerely suggest you reflect on your businesses ethical stance. You told us from the beginning you were waiting on parts specifically from the apple warehouse in California. Apple did diagnostics confirming that there may be third party parts used. When confronted you said they were apple but when told of the diagnostic you lowered your voice saying they were oen parts not apple. Apple confirmed you are not a licensed business to order apple products from them. By using third party parts you are voiding peoples warranty's on their phone. Apple offered to do a three way call with a case number but you couldn’t let me speak for long enough to...
Read moreWanted to like this place, but overall had a sub-par experience.
TLDR: Even though the job was eventually done right, it's only because I had to hound AJ to get the work done correctly. I feel like AJ is lacking in integrity and would not recommend this place to others.
The positives: -quick turn around -same technician working on my phone throughout -eventually did the job right
The negatives: -pricing is a bit misleading -did not fix the phone properly the first time -my phone screen was replaced with a clearly used phone screen (probably off ebay) even though I paid for a brand new screen the first time. -I was lied to about getting a new phone screen the first time.
I brought in a Samsung Galaxy S10 5G with a cracked screen for a screen replacement. Online, there was a $60 or $70 dollar screen replacement promotion but it applies to very specific phones. Double check if it applies to your phone. AJ quoted me $250 for the job.
I had to come back another day since parts had to be ordered. I had the screen replaced, and AJ put on a screen protector on my phone as well. I noticed what looked like scratches or hair under the screen protector, which AJ said is just debris and should disappear. I took his word for it, and went about my day.
When I took a phone call later, the ear speaker was not working; I could only speak using speakerphone. I called AJ and he said that it would be $30 to have that part replaced. That's frustrating since I paid to have the job done right the first time.
I go in, and AJ checks out the phone. He says he'll replace the broken earpiece part for free.
I then ask him to take off the screen protector since the debris was bothering me. And the "debris" turned out to be some serious scratches on the screen. I told AJ that this is unacceptable and it's not what I paid for. The screen is clearly used and not brand new. He told me that the screen likely got scratched as they moved the screens around in the Samsung warehouse. AJ then said that he would pay a premium to get a better screen from Samsung.
Honestly, at this point, I don't care where he's getting my screen from as long as it's actually new. I'm sure he sourced my first screen of eBay or Craigslist or something, not Samsung.
I came in again another day and he finally fixed my phone correctly. Everything seems to finally be in working order.
Unfortunately, I've been left with a bad taste in my mouth. I cannot endorse this establishment primarily due to AJ's apparent lack of integrity, willingness to cut corners, and deceive customers. I caution others to scrutinize their devices meticulously if they choose to seek...
