āā˜†ā˜†ā˜†ā˜† Shocking level of uncleanliness – worst I’ve seen in the U.S. or even India

I usually don’t leave reviews, but this one is necessary. The World Food Market is by far the most poorly maintained and dirtiest grocery store I’ve ever visited — not just in the U.S., but even compared to underfunded markets elsewhere.

The filth starts right at the parking lot: trash is scattered everywhere, especially near the cart area. The shopping carts themselves are old, mismatched, and clearly discarded Costco carts — when you push straight, it veers to the side.

Inside, things only get worse. The rice section had visible mold and fungus also found tobacco spitting marks behind the racks, and there was dust and dirt on the floor near food items. The produce section was a complete mess — trash on the ground, blocked aisles, and a foul smell near the onions. Most of the vegetables looked old, low quality, and unfit for purchase.

While customers also contribute to the mess, store management is clearly failing in basic hygiene and maintenance. This isn’t just an inconvenience — it’s a serious health concern.

I’m surprised local health officials or food safety inspectors haven’t stepped in yet. Do they think certain communities deserve this kind of environment? Everyone deserves clean and safe food, no matter the...

Looking at the amount of money they make, they should at least renovate and get better carts... they are still using the carts from food town which this location used to be.... cheap desis... also...this man yelled at my son because he was touching the screen running ads... he made my 6 year old cry... didn't even apologize...my son was just being a curious 6 year old... seems they spent more money on screens and security cameras but no money spent on the poor and outdated floors and shelving..the entire building needs a makeover...carta are usually all messed up... people don't pay attention to customers entering the place and drive fast in the lot.. ghetto place if u ask me...also the restrooms are nasty... a long time ago I found a fly in the chicken that was put on the shelves...it was packed with the clear plastic..when I showed it to them, they just snatched it out of my hand and took it to the back... I come here sometimes out of necessity.. I wish someone competes with them and opens a cleaner...

I needed a large pot to cook for an outdoor event this Saturday and someone told me they carry large cooking utensils. I got what I needed and as I was checking out , I saw they sell fresh made biryanis .. I got excited picked up a couple of boxes. I asked the cashier if they were made fresh, also the guy was wearing a cap similar to the Pakistan’s cricket team’s one, probably the store manager he walked past me as I was picking up the boxes, he didn’t say a thing. I just got back home opened the carry out boxes and i almost threw up. They are so stale that I had to take out the trash or my house will start smelling. I can say for a fact that the food was sitting out for at least 3-4 days and definitely not in a refrigerator. I just feel like I should file a complaint with Osha…because that biryani can really make someone sick. I live like 20 miles from world food and I will not go back to get my money back.. I’m not sure if anyone will read this but I recommend you stay away from...

Best halal store in Houston. Been coming here for 2 years. The selection and service has always been top notch. The owner Sadia baji is very nice, even all the staff is so humble and helpful.

We came on a Friday night. The waitress was great. She made some wonderful suggestions of beer/cider. I had my usual Guinness on tap $8.50. My daughter had a delicious fruity cider on tap. Only problem was it was 6oz for $11, it was way over priced. Should have been $7-8. I had the French dip and tater tots, it was delicious, it seemed a lot smaller than I remember from before. My daughter had their new sandwich, macaroni and cheese and brisket on Texas toast. She said it was good but it needed more crunch to it. The bread was a little thinner than most Texas toast. Maybe the toast needed to be more toasted? I enjoy coming here, but it is extremely noisy. It was too cold to sit outside, so we toughed it out. We love sitting outside, looking out over the water. People can smoke outside, so that gets annoying. You have to yell to be able to talk inside. I couldn’t hear sometimes. If you like sports, they have lots of sporting events on a lot of TV screens.
