I booked a 2-night stay through booking.com. Upon arrival I was told there was a $100 fee "in case I reck the room" which would be refunded once the room was checked out when I left. FYI - I am a 65 year old handicapped woman. The front desk clerk asked if I wanted to use the same ||credit card that I made reservation with. I said yes. About 30 minutes later, my cell phone rang. ||The caller ID showed the name Bob (I don't remember the last name). I answered the call and|| it was the young lady from the front desk. She said my credit card was rejected for the $100 fee. I told her that there was plenty of funds available ||on the card. She asked me if I used a third party ||booking site to make the reservation and I said ||yes. She then said that the booking site probably ||used their credit card and she couldn't use that ||card for this fee. She asked for my credit card ||number. I told her that I did not feel comfortable ||giving her this information over the phone from a caller ID named Bob (something). I told her I would||stop by the lobby and give her my actual my||credit card. She took my card and entered or ||swiped the card on her monitor eventhough there||was a card reader in front of me. She asked me to||sign my name on the card reader. No amount||showed up on the screen. Two weeks later I||received my credit card statement showing the ||$100 charge and another charge for $6. The $100||credit was not reflected on my statement. I called||the econo lodge and told them that I was not||credited for the $100 fee. The gentleman||apologized and said he would sumit the refund||right away. I asked was the $6 charge was for. He||said it was a fee for using my credit card and if I||had paid cash there would not be a fee. I told him||that I was not informed of this option and there||was not signage at the front desk stating this.||When I told him that I wanted to be reimbursed for||the $6 also, he said I would have to talk to the||manager and he wouldn't be in until the next day (Saturday) from noon until 2:00 p.m. Before calling||the econo lodge on Saturday, I contacted my||credit card company to make sure the $100 credit||was applied. It was not. I called the econo lodge||and the young lady who checked me answered||the phone. I asked to speak to Steve "the||manager". She said that he wouldn't be in until||Monday. I told her my issues and she didn't||respond. On Monday I called my credit card||company again before talking to "the manager". ||Still no $100 refund. Then I called Steve "the ||manager". He answered the phone and I began ||to tell him my issue. He cut me short which lead ||me to believe at least one of his front desk clerks ||had already told him that I would be calling. He ||said the $100 refund takes 7 to 10 days to process||and he could not do anything about the $6 fee. I ||told him that I was not informed of this fee and I ||was not given the option of paying with cash. He ||told me the person that checked me in was new to||the job. I said that this was an important piece of ||information to tell customers so they could make ||the decision on how they wanted to pay. Steve ||then became extremely rude to me and said, "You||are saying my front desk staff is a piece of s**t." I told him that is not what I said, I continuously referred to them as "young lady" and "gentleman" and it was him, "the manager" calling them that. I told him that I was going to call the corporate office to report this incident. He said to do what I want and hung up on me. My call to corporate was no help with the $6 refund. However, they did say that they have recieved complaints about this location and that they are under investigation. I contacted my credit card company. The $100 credit finally came through and they reversed the $6 fee. They told me that they go after econo lodge. I will never ever stay at this chain of hotels...
Read moreI tried to write this review in detail but i had to cut it shorter so its more to the story. When arriving to this hotel after being guaranteed a room with a Choice rep we were turned away because I had a service dog. I was asked what was my disabilities which was validating and to bring in my dog to show in a crowded lobby where she sniffed everyone who passed her. When it was clear for me to go up to the front desk. I was told they canceled my reservation because they don't take no dogs of no sort and I have an aggressive breed (Pit). Then he said she didn't listen to any of my commands(i asked her to sit 2x and she sat on the 2nd). I asked did he call his boss and he informed me that he told him to cancel our reservation. I then explained to him how him and the other guy was validating a lot of my rights and breaking a lot of laws. He shrugged his shoulders like oh well. I asked for my money back and he informed me to contact Choice to receive my refund. I let went into my car to contact Choice as soon as I got someone one the line and told them what happened they informed me that was against the law. So my husband and I went back in to inform them while we had the lady on the phone but they wasn't trying to hear it so my husband told them we wasn't leaving until we get our money back him and the guy had some words and the guy decide to call the police stating he feel in danger we won't leave we was threatening him all kinds of lies. He even stepped in the back to talk to them so no telling what else he lied about. We decided to stay so we could speak to the police so they would know we were the victims. When the police arrived we explained to them everything and informed him to check the cameras and also the 911 call where it was so silent you can hear pin drop and the guy claim we were right in font of him threatening him. As the police was there the Choice rep was still on the line and during the whole incident had put me on hold to speak to the front desk person. When she came back to the phone she informed us we would get a refund with in5-7 business days. Yesterday July 18th I called Choice and one rep informed my they refunded the point. I informed them I didn't want the points I needed my money back and that's what I was told. So I asked to speak to a supervisor a supervisor came on I explain what happened on the 4th. He then tells me that those points was used on that reservation. I told him that wasn't true we never check in then he said we was marked as a no show for that reservation. Again I told him that wasn't true he needs to check the recorded conversation from the 4th and refund our money like we were told he insisted he couldn't do so. I will now be contacting a lawyer to start a suite I informed them that all they has to do was refund me my money. He told me to contact the hotel so they can fix it. I tried calling the hotel and it rang one time and hang up when I call from my phone I then tried with my business phone and it rang and took me to the front desk. I asked for the manager but the person insisted to ask me can they help me and I insisted to speck to the manager or supervisor they stated there was neither there I then asked for there name he stated Steve for the manager and he didn't know the supervisor name then gave me a bogus one...
Read moreFront desk and lobby area is very clean. Employees have friendly personality and very casual attire. Two segregate buildings for one property. Walking distance to different foods. 2 -3 miles from Tanger Outlets. CONS: Linen is sloppy wrinkled with stray hairs. Even when asked for new linen. Floor in room was not swept. Hairs and dirt all over my socks! I had to remake my own beds. Oh also I found a slimey moldy substance in the ice machine and when I called front desk they said they was sending someone whom never came. My husband had to find the houseman and then had to translate between the guy and me because I don't speak Spanish. There is black dots along the sheets and pillowcases. When talking to the houseman I found out that all the furniture in the back building had been replaced for every single room because the bugs was so bad. So now my question; why didn't the new furniture come with new linen and how come no one showed up about the moldy icemaker? However, my family owns rental shares with Bluegreen Travelers Choice and for two adults and double queen with microwave and mini fridge cost next to nothing for three night and four days. Will post about continental breakfast (6-9am), swimming pool and the rest of my vacation stay. The continental breakfast includes yogurt, boiled eggs, pudding, cereal and granola, 3 different juices, a pancake maker, grits, oatmeal, danishes, muffins, bagels and toast. So I added a star because I was pleased with the variety and cleanliness. Two days in a row the breakfast was good. So i added another star (now 3 stars). This is my last night here and went to the pool today for a couple hours and invited my family (6 kids and 2 adults). When we got there I was again disappointed. This pool has been open for over a week now and I had to clean out the leaves and bugs before anyone could get in. The pumps were not functional and looks to not have been in a while. The jets didn't work that circulates the water in the pool. Apparently someone must told I was cleaning it because not long after I was finished and the kids was having fun that someone came to check out the outside shower for maintenance. Opened the pool filter lid from the top and didn't even pull out anything or clean out nothing. I pulled a star for this ( now 2 stars). Today the maid was asked to clean our room after we left but I forgot to take down DND sign. However, yesterday my room received a thorough cleaning with "clean" towels. Clean is used loosely because I keep pulling long black kinky hairs from my towels. I just can't bring myself to wash my face with the cloths that arw soiled with someone's hairs that I know are not my blonde hairs nor my spouse's short black hair. For this I kept it two stars. I also went to check the ice machine that spit a two inch piece of mold into the holding tank and to no avail it looked the exact same as it did the night I found the particle. Meaning it hasn't been cleaned nor do I think it will anytime soon. For this I demerit another star (now...
