Aura Salon Spa — Attraction in Cookeville

Jorge has been doing my hair for over 12 years, and I have never been unhappy with it, or the service I receive at Aura. Last year I mentioned to Jorge that I was thinking about not coloring my hair anymore, but that I was worried about the growing-out process. Jorge took the time to listen to my concerns, to show me a way that he could minimize the weird root phase, and then cut my hair so that the process was fun, not horrible. In fact, he did such a good job that complete strangers commented on it constantly. He never tried to dissuade me from letting it go white, even though that meant he'd lose money b/c I was no longer coloring it every 3 weeks. Sure, there have been scheduling mistakes a few times, but Aura always bends over backwards to make it right. The customer service I've received at Aura is some of the best I have ever had anywhere, and the hair services are exceptional. Jorge trained in New York, Chicago, and Miami, and still continues to study and learn, even after decades in the business. I made my appointment and sent pictures like they requested of what hair I had an idea of leaving the salon with and I did that and I even sent a picture of my hair now so they could see it to know how it is. I was so excited to get my hair done before my graduation this Saturday which they were aware of and I arrived at my appointment and discussed hair color as he just felt my hair for 20 minutes and then proceeds to tell me he just isn’t going to do my hair that he doesn’t feel comfortable and then tries to send me to some other salon that “deals with stuff like this all the time” whatever that means. I left in tears so embarrassed and disappointed. Please save yourself the trip and the disappointment and never go here!! Extremely unprofessional. He also said I just have too much hair, my hair is shoulder length and naturally curly so I’m assuming he just didn’t want to do my hair because I wasn’t all dressed up with my hair fixed already. Most beautiful experience! The salon is gorgeous, with a beautiful aura; indeed! The lighting, sounds, scents... All just perfect. I was the only client and I felt like a pampered princess! Now, the best part! Jorge is obviously, a professional. He ' pre-cut' my hair, washed it and then gave me the most spectacular hair cut. I love it! Got so many compliments before I made it home. And before the hair cut, I was surprised with a heavenly scalp, head, neck, and back massage! With lavender essential oil. Oh my... So relaxing! Jorge took his time. And he studied my hair; the length, texture, the 'lay' of it, before he began cutting. He is THE BEST!
