I recently got SMILE with Dr. Wu at One Eyecare 5/22/24 and I can confidently say I no longer need glasses to see! I had horrible prescriptions and hated wearing glasses so I always knew I wanted to get lasik. As I started to look more into the surgery, I stumbled upon One Eyecare! I initially went in for what I thought was going to be a basic consult, but I got a very thorough eye exam! I met Dr. Wu that same day and she went over the procedures she was able to perform and detailed which one was ideal for me. She even did Evo ICL (the implantable prescription surgery) so I asked if I could get that and she did a couple more tests, but I wasn’t a candidate. Dr. Wu explained that SMILE was a better procedure for me due to my dry eyes, answered all my questions, and I left with a surgery date! Although I left that day feeling confident that this is the procedure I wanted, as days passed I felt more skeptical because I saw studies saying lasik produced better results, many horror stories where people ended up with chronic pain and dry eyes, and I was worried I should have looked into other doctors because what if they have different opinions etc.. My worries spiraled as the pre-op exam day came and I started bombarding their text line with all sorts of questions (loved how easily accessible they were because I sent texts of every random question I had and they responded very quickly). On pre-op exam day I released a flood of even more questions and even brought up studies I saw. Dr. Wu answered every question thoroughly and by the end of that exam, I felt confident that this doctor was definitely the doctor I would trust my surgery with. Surgery day came, got my SMILE done, and within a week my vision settled and in a week I was off to Hawaii with my friends without a single worry that my contacts would fall out as I was swimming/snorkeling, or having to pack contacts solution and extra contacts in case of emergencies. Also, before I went to Hawaii I actually worked starting post-op day 2 and even went to Disneyland twice, so it’s safe to say I didn’t have a problem going about my day to day activities, other than my sight was just a bit blurry within that week(I could drive fine though). Now as I’m writing this, I just had my one month check-in and every day I wake up amazed at the fact that I can just SEE. I literally still head towards my desk to reach for my glasses from pure muscle memory. Everyone was super kind and informative throughout this entire journey, shout out to Lauren, and I would recommend One Eyecare to anyone looking into lasik!! Do your research, look into what’s best suited for your eyes, and stop by One Eyecare for a consult! I’ve never been happier with my eyes, and I wish the...
Read moreI recently underwent successful procedures - LASIK on my right eye and SMILE on my left eye. I was a contact lens wearer for over 20 years! Everyone at One Eyecare was extremely patient and thorough during the initial and post examination of my eyes. Instructions were very clear about the procedure and a daily eyedrop schedule was provided. The day of the surgery, Dr. Wu was very calm and explained every step so I was never nervous or uncomfortable. They administered numbing eyedrops so the procedure itself was very quick and I felt no pain. I was instructed to rest for the rest of the day…and I was able to go to Disneyland with my family the day after! Of course, I was very careful and wore a large hat with protective sunglasses, and I kept rigorously to my eyedrop schedule. I experienced light halos especially with night driving (Dr. Wu had already explained that this was normal) and it went away by 2 weeks. Clarity with near and far sight improved each day. Dr. Wu explained to me recovery differences between LASIK and SMILE but I personally did not notice any difference in each eye probably because I was just too excited about being able to see. I am now approaching the end of 6 weeks since my surgery and can pretty much see normal. My life has changed for the better, and it is amazing how much time I save in my daily routine without wearing contact lenses or glasses. We travel quite a bit and not having to pack all the necessary items needed for lens and glasses in my luggage is so great! Sometimes without thinking, I go into autopilot mode and prepare to take my contacts out only to remember that I no longer wear them! I also want to mention that Dr. Chun was amazing with both of my kids eye exams, and Kevin was extremely helpful picking out my husbands frames and my new sunglasses. Thank you so much to the One Eyecare team for...
Read moreTL;DR - One Eyecare is a stellar team who truly cares about their patients and go out of their way for you. My annual check ups and my LASIK experiences have been incredible!
I've been going to this office for 3 years (prior to latest name change) and they are my favorite doctor's office out of my entire physician network. Walking in always puts a smile on my face! Let's start with the front - Kevin always remembers the small details and goes out of his way to make sure you're taken care of. He helped me find the only pair of sunglasses that have ever comfortably fit my weird shaped head. Plus he got them at a better price :) Now for the physicians - Dr. Chun is my optometrist and has always made me feel super comfortable with my year to year care. For the record, I was (note past tense) pretty blind (-6/-7D) and wear contacts as well as glasses. Lastly, Dr. Wu is my ophthalmologist and I'm typing this review less than 24 hours after LASIK! That should speak for itself - Dr. Wu knows her stuff and explained all my options (LASIK vs SMILE) and talked me through my pre-op, procedure (LASIK), and post-op in a really clear and easy to remember way. So far, I don't really feel any of the classic post LASIK symptoms and I think it's because I followed Dr. Wu's pre and post op instructions exactly! Overall, walking into One Eyecare is always such a joy. The team always puts a big smile on my face and I'm so happy I can see better...
