It was supposed to be an exciting day. I had been looking forward to visiting the most prestigious mall in California, a renowned shopping destination that promised luxury, impeccable service, and an unforgettable experience. But instead, my visit turned into an absolute disaster — and, surprisingly, the blame lies with a seemingly unrelated source: Mike Parker Landscape.

As I approached the mall, the first thing that struck me was the disarray around the entrance. Beautifully designed gardens, with their lush greenery and perfectly manicured flower beds, were in complete chaos. Plants were overgrown, some seemed to have been neglected, and the landscaping around the outdoor areas looked half-finished. It was an eyesore, especially considering the mall's prestigious reputation.

I was confused but shrugged it off, assuming it was just a temporary setback. But as I walked further into the mall, things only worsened. The parking lot had puddles everywhere, likely from poor drainage management, and there were cracked pavements that had weeds pushing through, making it feel more like an afterthought than a luxury shopping destination.

It soon became clear that the landscaping was the problem. As I was walking through the outdoor courtyard, navigating the broken pathways and overgrown plants that had taken over the once-stunning garden space, I witnessed something truly disturbing. A shopper — a middle-aged woman, clearly frustrated with the state of the environment — was confronting one of the landscaping workers from Mike Parker Landscape. She seemed to be asking why the plants had been neglected and the pathways left in disrepair, perhaps just hoping for some form of acknowledgment or explanation.

But instead of a courteous reply, the situation escalated. The worker, clearly annoyed by the woman’s questions, became belligerent. He raised his voice and began verbally abusing her, speaking to her in a condescending and unprofessional manner. His tone was hostile and dismissive, clearly more interested in belittling her than addressing her concerns.

Things got worse when the worker, as if to assert his authority, pushed past the woman in a particularly aggressive manner. The shopper, startled and taken aback, stumbled backward, almost falling onto the uneven pavement. It was an appalling display of unprovoked aggression.

I stood frozen in disbelief, unsure of what to do. It wasn’t just the shocking mistreatment of a paying customer that left me stunned, but the realization that Mike Parker Landscape had allowed such behavior from their staff to go unchecked. How could a company entrusted with the landscaping of such a prestigious property allow such abuse to take place in front of the very customers they were meant to serve?

The woman, shaken but resolute, demanded that a manager be called. Security arrived soon after, but by that point, the damage was done. The greenery wasn’t just poorly maintained; it was actively detracting from the ambiance. The whole place felt less inviting and more like an overgrown garden in need of attention. The lack of care and attention to detail was so glaring that it became impossible to ignore. As I made my way through the mall, I couldn’t shake the feeling that the issues outside had somehow seeped into the interior — and it wasn’t just...

South Coast Plaza has the best shopping and is fashionista paradise when it comes to beautiful luxury fashion hands downs 5 + stars ! To me what doesn’t make sense is why the owners don’t invest in updating the exterior or interior of the “mall “ Orange County has the best interior designers and best architects imaginable just go to new port coast so why can’t a landmark destination reflect and capitalize and use the talent around to create a mall that’s beautiful and modern and offer something really different that’s going to make people want to come and see what an incredible place . The land scape is bad resurfacing the parking lot every other month is not going To beautify the landscape what with all those tall twisted eucalyptus trees and mixed topiary s all around chop them down ! the landscape is all mixed the only interesting looking section of the mall is probably by capital grill ? Next would be the bridge that connects the two sections of the mall ? Everything else look sad and really dated the interior is tacky with wood pillers weird glass domed ceiling? Weird dated seating benches, dated travertine tiles , dated planter boxes with weird plam trees dated lighting , weird hall ways to restrooms with dated railing going to the restrooms weird carousel update the colors at least ?? The restrooms were up dated but what happened to the mall it doesn’t match ? And what’s going on with old Sears building what a waste of empty space ? The whole side by The old sears building is like a time capsule it’s has old dated buildings a tailor shop and tuxedo store? Why Separated? and an appliance store ?? Unused old Sears services buildings it’s just so tacky and weird ?? The music they play in the mall is even dated and not even relevant to fashion the directories kiosk are even dated it’s all about the details ! Details ! Details ! all this is just on the main side of the mall the whole other side of the mall is a even bigger dated mess !! Sad. There are so many beautiful and successful malls with unique in interesting ideas why can’t the most popular mall around be a destination for other malls to come to for design inspiration and want to take ideas from SCP and inspire existing and new customers to want to only shop at SCP because it’s cool and it’s where you want to be seen at ???? Malls aren’t closing because no one is shopping?? malls are closing because their exteriors and interior decor are irrelevant and dated?? people with new money want vegas , they want cool , modern, they want newness !! And they will go out of their way to go to these places ? When you enter the mall It needs to be that feeling you get when you walk into a model home and it takes your breath away and your speechless because you want to live there and be apart of that lifestyle?? I shouldn’t be just drive to mall get out of car walk into mall and then get that feeling when you enter your favorite store ??? Think about this , there are popular stores in the mall with lines ?? Why are people shopping there ? What are they doing that’s making people want to shop there ??? Malls are the same thing they hv to change make it cool relevant. SCP exterior and interior design is sad and dated the interior space doesn’t showcase the luxury fashions they offer. Just...
