Bought tickets at the arena for the Shrine Circus at 3:00. It was my first time at the arena and it took longer to park and purchase tickets then I was expecting. I was alone with my 2 and 5 year old. I chose seats 8, 9, and 10 in row H, section 203. It was my first time at the arena and it ended up taking longer to park and get tickets then I was expecting. We only had a few minutes before the show started to get to our seats so I didn't check my tickets. The lights had just gone out when we got to our section. We got to our row and I noticed that there were people sitting in our seats. I talked to the occupants and she showed me her tickets, which were correct. I figured that there must have been a misprint so I hauled my kids back up the stairs to talk to the attendant of our section. It was there that I realized that I was sold a ticket for the 11:00 show that occurred early that day. The attendant told me that we could sit in the empty seats in row T and that he would go figure out what to do about the situation. He left and never came back to our section. During intermission I found another attendant and told her about the situation. She called someone on her radio and told them that the person with the wrong tickets were here. A man walked up to me and hand me tickets in the same section for row Q. Nobody ever apologized or explained to me why the other attendant never got back to me. I won't be...
Read moreMi America center was fun today. We decided to go to brick days which is a Lego convention of sorts. There was plenty to do and plenty to see for all ages. There are plenty of exhibits which were elaborate and amazing. There was also plenty of activities for all the children like myself and other adults I couldn’t resist. There were several vendors selling all kinds of Lego sets Lego memorabilia Lego accessories and then some. If there was something that you were needing or wanting from Lego most likely you could find it here. The best part was that everybody was having fun and there were something there for everybody. My favorite we’re all the Star Wars exhibits. My second favor we’re all the Star Wars Lego characters that were available. I couldn’t believe some of the figures I saw that I had no idea were made into Lego characters. I talk to some other exhibit traders and they were very knowledgeable and dedicated and the conversation was fun. I had talk to everyone for putting this...
Read moreit may seem kind of weird that this convention center is in Iowa, but it seems to be part of a casino development and my guess is that in order to get that casino the town had to get a Convention Center. And they got a pretty good one.
The building is good for small conventions, I'm sure under a thousand people, but has a good number of meeting rooms and is attached to an arena 4 either giant presentations or concerts or exhibition. The facilities were good, decent quality AV services and well sized meeting rooms.
Food service was about what you would come to expect at a Convention Center, not total Gourmet but certainly far from awful. Staff was extremely efficient and kind, whether they be food service or building management.
The convention I went to in this building went smoothly, had all the facilities and Equipment it needed, and was worth the trip from Omaha over to Iowa for the event. Not a bad place at all to...
