After I saw Samantha’s Brown’s “Places to Love” segment about where one should visit outside of the French Quarter in New Orleans on PBS in January 2025, I knew I wanted to retrace her path and drive across the bridge over Lake Pontchartrain to Covington, LA, to meet Marianne Angeli Rodriguez.
In April 2025, I was in New Orleans and took my visiting Ohio friends across the Lake to the newly refurbished Southern Hotel where we enjoyed a tasty, Louisiana-style lunch. The Southern Hotel is not only a place to stay and eat, it is a destination to enjoy. The public rooms are filled with exceptional pieces of Louisiana art much like a gallery or museum so we enjoyed walking from room to room off the main lobby to see them all. I recognized one piece that was signed by Marianne Angeli Rodriguez and was immediately smitten by her distinctive touch. After lunch we found her gallery nearby on N. Columbia Street.
Marianne was even more charming and personable in person than she was on PBS. She has Filipino roots and has lived literally all over the world. She is attracted to unique shapes and colors which she boldly uses in all of her magical pieces. Her artistic confidence is very apparent. We explored her gallery. We met her husband Rock. We were introduced to her adopted kitties. My eyes landed on a very large canvas. Was this piece for sale? Too big for my condo? Which wall? I was told that it was for sale. My friends assured me that the piece of art would be perfect. In what seemed like a split second, I bought it. Since we all were flying back to Ohio in a few days, later that afternoon after the gallery closed, Rock and Marianne installed my new purchase. With them doing this, we then had some time to get acquainted with the new piece of art in my condo before heading home.
I feel so blessed to own my very own creation by Marianne. It’s titled “Electric Orchestra.” Every time I study the piece, I find something new or a new interpretation comes to mind. The rich, eye-catching mixture of colors and all of the whimsical designs make me happy. The palette ties all of the diverse colors of my other pieces of art and furnishings in my condo together. Plus it looks really great on the wall!
This was an investment for me. I am really not one that buys a lot of art. Yet, I believe that Marianne is truly a remarkable artist with such a happy, creative spirit — and I wanted to be a part of her journey. Continued success to Marianne and Rock !!

Read moreMy husband and I purchased Marianne's Hidden Treasures painting from her Tree of Life series at the May Destin, Florida Arts Quest Fine Arts Festival. Phil and I met Marianne and her husband, a kind joy-filled couple, when we came into her booth. Immediately, we were drawn to her artistic style, but specifically it was this Tree of Life piece that stole our heart. Marianne shared her faith and that her inspiration for the Tree of Life series came from a passage in Proverbs 3. To see her interpretation of this biblical passage about finding wisdom in all things through our faith come to life in this piece was beautifully simple. Vivid colors she designed herself combined with gentle nods to simple folk art of birds and beach motifs felt like a story, and it was speaking to both of us, especially since we are bird and beach lovers. Well, we continued visiting booths at the show, but couldn't leave the festival without seeing her piece again and visiting with her. This precious art piece now hangs in the foyer of our home with a small, framed printout of Proverbs 3 nearby as a reminder of the meaning of Christ's Tree of Life. Thank you to both Marianne and her husband for taking time to share their story and kind service. Your talent is breathtaking and joyful! Wishing you blessings and we will continue to follow your happy art journey! Hoping to make it to your art gallery at some point...
Read moreI could not be happier with the piece I purchased for my new home! I love all of Marianne’s work so it was very hard to choose, but this piece seems like it was made specifically for my house and the space it’s hanging in. It was the first thing that made my new build go from “under construction” to “welcome home.”
Working with Rock, the gallery manager, was great and he was very helpful with picking out the frame that would best fit the painting and the space it would live in. I really appreciate him sending me multiple mock-ups of the different pieces and sizes I was considering and how each one would look hung on the wall I’d chosen. He made me feel confident in my decision and comfortable throughout the process, and when he showed up to hang it himself he was patient and committed to it looking just right.
I ultimately went with “Fortress” and am in love with the final framed product! I can’t wait to purchase another piece… one more will make me a Marianne Rodriguez collector! Her work is beautiful and fun, but also has that fine art feel I was looking to add to my...
