Would have gave 1 star if it didn't look nice at first glance. Went with a few family members for a kayak on the bogue falaya river.
Just a few steps outside the truck I noticed tons of broken glass scattered throughout the parking lot and surrounding areas, several handfuls of which I picked up. I wouldn't bring children in my family who like to run barefoot.
The water was about 300+- yards away from the parking lot, yet there was a dirt road leading down next to the water. The workers would not allow us to drive down the road, even under their supervision, because it was "TOO MUCH OF A LIABILITY & I MIGHT HIT SOMEONE WITH MY VEHICLE." There was ONE other couple within eyeshot and we're sitting at a picnic table.
There was no event going on which called for them closing that road, the park was not packed but we had to haul our kayaks several hundred yards because they would not allow us to drive down close to the river.

As a photographer, it was a lovely and private sanctuary in which to gather some great images. There is a wonderful playground which would give children the best sense of getting lost in their imaginations. The old trees throughout the park tell many stories and have definitive attributes that define this southern Louisiana landscape. One of the best parts of the parks is the proximity to the river. the river is tranquil and will offer a few glimpses of rarer birds and other species to check out. Their public restrooms are clean as well as the rest of the park, not one ounce of liter in sight. If you are in Covington for the day, make sure to stop by this park for a relaxing and family...
Read moreVery cute and quiet little park. A good place to bring a picnic with a blanket and hang out with family. There is also a good sized playground to entertain the kids in addition to some pretty sand on the beach that is sloped enough to to ankle wading in the river if you wanna get your feet wet. There's a pavilion with clean restrooms for rent to hold events like weddings or family reunions and such. And the plus, just to go hang out, it's free. My daughter even found a live mussel wading through the river, and as these pics were taken the Saturday after that tragic New Orleans Saints loss, someone across the river had a sense of humor and had the referee hanging...
