Read moreMy father was a resident in the memory care unit at Atria for 8 months, and I am utterly disgusted by the abysmal level of care he received. While the building itself is beautiful, almost resort-like, the care is nothing short of disgraceful. The staff is neglectful, uncommunicative, and blatantly unhelpful. My father's room reeked of urine due to the staff's complete failure to clean either his room or him properly.
During my fathers final few months at Atria he became almost completely non-verbal, and was entirely dependent on the staff to ensure he was hydrated, but they only ever provided him with a single eight-ounce cup of water at breakfast, lunch, and dinner—unless family intervened. This gross negligence led to repeated UTIs and eventually a kidney stone. The staff seemed to prefer my father being dehydrated rather than changing him regularly.
Whenever state inspections were scheduled, my father and his room would miraculously be the cleanest we had ever seen. This sudden burst of cleanliness was a stark contrast to the usual neglect and highlighted their ability to care properly but only when it suited them.
The few great caregivers on his floor have all left, driven away by Atria's appalling management. The level of disrespect and mistreatment I witnessed towards other residents was unforgivable. Despite mine and my family's numerous complaints, we were repeatedly ignored and dismissed. Upper management was perpetually "unavailable," making it impossible to address our serious concerns.
I would strongly advise against placing your loved one in this facility, especially on the memory care floor. Moving my father out of Atria was the best decision we ever made for...
Read moreMy Father lived in the independent living apartments at Ridgecrest. He felt comfortable and at home from day one. I can't single anyone out because the entire group that works at Ridgecrest is a fantastic caring group . Everything you want when you are considering a place at every transition point for your loved one. The food and staff at the kitchen called Dad by name and everyone knew what he liked and to a person was always kind and upbeat. The activities are engaging , diverse so everyone can find something to do. The activities team just like dining staff REALLY CARE. The cleaning staff got to know Dad and would remind him when to go to lunch. I didn't see any turnover in staff . I don't know the management at Ridgecrest but I'm sure they are very solid people . You can feel good if you are moving a loved one in to this place. Thank you everyone for the special care you took of our...
