I will preface this by saying LongHorns was my favorite restuarant, up until last night.
Some background- I travel for work and as an independent sales rep, expenses are on me, so I have to be careful with hotels and restaurants.
I have been in PA since Monday 10/22, and have not had the best meals, so I was thrilled there was a LongHorn for my "favorite" meal.
I went in approx. 530, party of 1. I was told there was a 20 to 25 minute wait but I could "try and find something at the bar." They have big high top tables in the bar area, but i was told no you can't sit there. There were also a couple empty tables and booths, but whatever. I find a seat at the end of the bar, next to the kitchen. Fine.
Bartender eventually gets my drink order (coke and a water). I knew what I wanted, but it would have been nice to be given a menu, but okay fine.
I order: 12oz prime rib, med rare, fries and a caesar salad. Really pretty easy. This is where things kind of go awry. Oh, and the "packed" bar was people waiting for tables. As soon as I ordered it cleared out. If that had been made clear by the hostess I would have waited a few minutes for a better seat at the bar.
She brought me some bread. I start to slice of a piece, and my salad comes out. Okay, fine. Salad and bread is no big deal. What is a big deal is that about three bites into my salad, my prime rib comes out. I'm very surprised by this, but accept the dinner and stop eating my salad.
I asked for medium rare, which is really pretty easy to tell, especially on a prime rib that is precooked and kept warm and sliced to order. The piece I got was so rare it was almost blue, and cold. The piece I was given was about 2/3 fat and 1/3 meat. I will not send anything back in a restaurant even if there is a problem, because you never know what might happen In the kitchen.
I ate the cold, rare prime rib. The bartender walks past me several times, and one of the times she asks oh how is it? I said, not very good. She says, oh would you like something else? I said no, and she said okay.
Not once did someone from management come ask what was wrong. Not once did they offer something "on the house" to make up for my poor meal.
I felt extremely rushed and that they just wanted me to eat and go, which is exactly what I did. I am usually a very generous tipper, even when the service is less than stellar, but not in this case at all.
Perhaps, if I had bought some alcohol at the bar, the bartender might have cared a little more? But, seems to me, I was just taking up their space and needed to hurry along.
I walked in excited for a great meal at my favorite restaurant and walked out disgusted and realizing I need to come up with a new favorite restuarant.
A steak house chain, that offers prime rib, really ought to be able to tell the difference between "med rare" and "just stopped mooing a minute ago rare" by sight, as I was able to tell pretty easily. But, I think, they were just trying to serve me as quickly as possible to get me out and free up the chair.
All in all, very disappointed. Will not return to this LongHorns, and reevaluating my choice in restuarants. Fair warning, if you sit at the bar and don't order alcohol, they basically don't care about you, so if you want halfway decent service, wait for the...
Read moreI just came in with my family tonight and was very disappointed. I ordered the parmesan chicken with asparagus. I do not eat anything spicy and I checked to make sure there was nothing spicy listed in anything I ordered.
Welp the asparagus was covered in some kind of spicy sauce and when we compared mine to other people at the table it looked like they dumped a whole shaker of spice on my asparagus. My husband who loves spicy and salty stuff couldn't even eat it because it was so over seasoned!
To make it worse the entire plate was swimming in whatever oil they had put on the asparagus... Again not the lemon sauce that it said on the menu it was some reddish brown spices in an oily sauce. I tried to eat from the opposite side of the plate but I couldn't even eat half the chicken!
The server asked me what was wrong and I mentioned the spices and two other people at my table had tried it off my plate and it was way too spicy and salty! So she said she would take it off the bill. I made sure to over tip her because she was so nice to take that off the bill when I couldn't even eat it because it was so over salted and spicy!
So we paid the bill and we're walking out and I looked down at it, they took off $2.99 for the asparagus. So we paid for the chicken that was absolutely disgusting, completely unedible and left behind! I worked in restaurants for 15 years and I have never seen a side be comped off a plate when the side ruined the entire plate.
We come here a couple times a year but I will...
Read moreThis was one of the Best visits to ANY restaurant. It was very peaceful and felt relaxing, not chaotic and noisy. While waiting to be seated, our server was have a discussion with the manager and saw us. He stopped and came over, sat us and took our drink requests, and then he finished he conversation. Brandon then came to take our food order. While I only order an appetizer, Brandon asked if I wanted to have my Wild West Shrimp first or wait and have it come out with my wife Renegade Sirloin. Brandon was terrific, he was engaging, funny and such a positive attitude, it was contagious. Brandon was on top of his game, frequently asking if we needed refils, condiments, etc. As someone who travels for work, I frequently eat at restaurants and there is a new standard for servers. Brandon. The food was came out looking like it should be in a cookbook. Flavortown must have where our meals originated. The tender and juicy Sirloin, mashed taters even a pop of flavor. The shrimp were perfectly done, and even the salad looked perfectly balanced and it too should've had a picture in the menu. The manager was engaging with the patrons as well. She double checked in with every table and was wiping tables and doing the sets ( salt, pepper, etc.)on them too. Thank you to Brandon, the kitchen staff, manager, and All the good folks of Longhorn of...
