Bearded Comics & Collectibles — Attraction in Crawfordsville

I am artist that has some work featured at Bearded Comics and I would like to address one of the other reviews I’ve seen on here from someone that was upset about the “AI Art” being sold in the store. I asked the owner about the particular piece in question, because I too don’t appreciate someone using and selling an AI generated image for profit. The owner explained the artist in question and his process and we had a lively discussion with two other customers in the store at the time. After hearing the process, which the owner already has outlined in his response to the review, I understood that it’s not the horrible thing we think it is. A lot of artists out there use other art as an outline or even the “bones” of their art and I while I don’t think it would be a process for me to try I can respect another artists process. That all being said, I really wish that you could at least take a step back and look at your point of view and try to reassess. It is the height of ignorance to be locked into one singular point of view, especially when looking at art. One can argue all day and night their points but in all honesty there is a major difference in AI generated art and using an AI generated image as inspiration or as a template to draw your own work. It’s like in comics when someone does inks, like myself, or colors. The penciler lays out the groundwork and does a lot of the heavy lifting but ultimately it takes the whole team to deliver the finished product.

With all of that, I would like to close with Bearded Comics is a wonderful and beautiful place that truly helps local artists and crafters with getting their work out there for the world to see. The owner himself is such a respectful and nice guy who only wants to help this community grow with art and reading. Amazing variation with unbelievable graded comic selection he rotates frequently. He has a healthy selection of different card games, toys, collectables, and clothes and is knowledgable about all of it. The vibes are always positive, the owners have always been honest and fair to me, and the store has a fun atmosphere at all times. If you're looking for something in particular Micheal will work with you to get it in for a fair price. In addition to comic books, graphic novels, and assorted associated collectibles, Mike also makes super cool framed art with real film from the movie reels incorporated into the displays (and LED back lighting). He has a wide variety of movies to choose from. He has all sizes and a piece to fit any budget.
