Brought a stack of paper plates back to show them that half of the package had plates that were firmly stuck/glued together. Products have "Aldi Twice As Nice Guarantee!" on the packaging, "item replaced & money refunded". Went to the only checkout line with an actual cashier and explained the situation. All she did was argue and tell us we were the only person reporting this problem. She asked why we didn't bring the entire package, we had holiday guests over and couldn't just not use the plates. Not our fault there was a defect with the product that wasn't discovered until opened and used. Thought we might get the slightest apology or even a dollar or two of a credit. Nope. No offer to ask a manager or anything. This is the level of customer service these days. We will take the extra time to contact the company through other means and get it resolved that way, but this should have been handled at the store. Amazing what businesses will fight you over these days. Not worth taking care of a customer with a faulty product for a few dollars. Read moreThe store itself is well stocked and good prices. However once my fiance and I got to the checkout things changed. I use an EBT card due to medical issues that I am currently receiving treatment for. It is not a life long thing and I aim to be off of it as soon as possible. I use it so my fiance isn't stuck paying for my groceries. I forgot that paper bags weren't covered on EBT. We forgot to bring in our insulated bags. My fiance apologized to the cashier named Maria and said we can't get the bags. If looks could kill! She glared at us without a word, changed the amount and handed my fiance the receipt without a word and then turned and smiled at the next guest while ignoring us. I have never been so humiliated. It is not the place of a complete stranger to judge a customer and be so rude. I asked about her day and was pleasant to her. There was no need for that. I have worked in retail, grocery, and food service so don't go saying I don't understand the difficulties of the job. I did absolutely nothing to provoke her and apologized for the bags. Where I would have Aldi as part of my shopping repitoir before, it doesn't pay now, its best just getting everything at one store, rather than make another stop here. They dumped a bunch of $$$ into renovations, even on the newer stores such as McHenry, & those renovations are reflected in their raised prices. So, what happened Aldi? You had an even better thing before now I feel they're just catering to the younger set by trying to be more like a Fresh Market or a Whole Foods.
