World Market — Local services in Crystal Lake

Made a special trip here today that I was really looking forward to. I was going to get some special "in store only" Christmas items and use my 15% birthday discount. I haven't been going out much. I have a lung condition and have to be ultra careful due to Covid. I shopped around a nearly empty store. You'd think they'd be happy to have a customer that was filling their basket. Nope ! Rachel at checkout refused to give me my birthday discount. I was having problems with my phone and she could have easily and graciously looked it up with my phone number. She couldn't be bothered to help, even though there were literally no other customers. I left empty handed. Thanks for making me sad on my birthday. Haven't cried in a long time. To add insult to injury , I emailed them and all I get are cut and paste responses that clearly show they didn't even read what I wrote.

Not a great place to shop anymore. No wonder this company is having financial...

I love world market. If you drink a lot of wine like my wife does, they have club prices and you can stock up on really good discounted prices.

Then there’s all the chocolate and snacks which I absolutely loved until I got fat. Now I can only look at that stuff while the wife shops for alcohol from around the world.

Wife is Russian so she likes the Sprats and some of the other smoked fish products that remind her of those Soviet days when she was starving. But on New Years every year she remembers putting one sprat on one cracker, which is all each family member had. Now we come to World Market and buy a whole jar of Sprats so she can eat the whole thing like some sort of savage.

They also have interesting furniture and lots of patio cushions.

They do a wonderful job of keeping positive attitudes and patience even with some of the impatient and snippy customers this time of year. 2nd star: Store is pretty clean and easy to navigate. 3rd star: A lot of decent parking. 4th star: Although some of their products can be expensive, a lot of it you can't get anywhere else and they have some kickin' sales and great deals if you sign up for free for their Explorer program. 5th star: Love the tastings they do!
