We usually stay at a hilton brand hotel. This was one of the mid range type. The room a king was nice with frig, comfy bed, nice little desk, huge walk in shower, little bitty 32" TV which seems out of place on the huge wall and cabinet it's mounted on. This was the first place we stayed in the last few years that has plenty of elec outlets, I don't even know of another hotel with as many outlets. Really, Sitting on the bed as I write this I can see 10 without lifting my head off the pillow and there are others. I have extension cords and a 3 way plug in my travel bag because of the outlet issue we usually have at noon Hilton motels. The lobby and pool were small but they are working on renovating. The cafe is good for quick to go breakfast with Starbucks but closes at 10:30 am. They were very friendly at the front desk, actually everyone here was friendly. I had to add a day because SWA standby was getting full and I'm traveling with a couple wild ones. Initially they told me on the room phone that they were full, when I went online to find another hotel one of the choices was here. So I went downstairs they said they were full again, I mentioned online shows I can rent a room here, the guy looked at the computer intense like then conceded that we could stay in our room another night. I'm thinking they wanted to rent the room at the going rate to someone last minute than the discounted rate we were given thru SWA. No big deal I got what I needed. The shuttle to from airport, SWA headquarters and the car rental lot was great. Noon check out awesome. This place seems to cater to business type, but never gave me flack for having the kids and them being little wild. We were in town for SWA High School camp and many others were also. I'm glad SWA has a good deal with Hilton. Kudos...
Read moreI was there this past weekend visiting Dallas for the first time and staying at a DoubleTree for the first time too. We were so excited cause we were using a gift certificate for a free weekend stay, unfortunately when I made the reservation I called their main line but got directed out and some inexperienced guy wrote all my information wrong and even set me up with an upgraded room without informing me first. So the weekend comes, I hand the certificate over to the girls on the main desk and one looks puzzled cause they weren't expecting the gift certificate. She clearly looked at it and said wow you got a nice room and then told us she would fix it on the computer since it didnt reflect that a certificate was going to be used. When it was time to check out she looked confused and worried and asked me if anyone contacted me, I said no. Somehow they forgot to tell me again that the room I was given was an upgraded room and that the manager decided to charge it without my authorization and knowledge. She said they kept contacting me all evening but I never received a call, that's when I noticed that on the bill she handed me the phone number and mailing address was all wrong. So I ask myself if this manager couldn't get in touch with why not leave a message in my room or even send me an email?? Instead he decided to charge for a booking mistake they made, why should I pay for their own mistake? Plus that day when I checked out I waited for this manager to show up for 30 minutes but he was unprofessional and did not show. Is this how every DoubleTree hotel is??? Unprofessional management that blames you for their own mistakes??? I'm extremely angry and it's unfair that even after talking to them I'm still...
Read moreThe hotel lobby was so nice and inviting. The staff was very friendly. I knocked a star off because all the rooms aren’t updated the same as the photos online. We were with a volleyball team so we were able to see the different rooms. We were on the second floor and our friends rooms were higher up. There is an inaccessible balcony on the second and third floor (maybe even 4th) and then the other rooms above extend out. We had friends on the 7th and 8th floors and their rooms were much larger and updated to what you see in pictures. The bathrooms are also much larger on the higher floors vs the room we had on the second floor. Was our room bad.. it was fine but not only did it need updating so what we saw in photos lined up with the rooms but these rooms were a little more rundown (I.e., part of the baseboard was pulling off the wall). It was nice to just have to take a set of stairs to get to our room but I definitely would’ve preferred a higher floor and larger room since we had 4 people in our room. If it was just one or two people the size would’ve been more easily tolerated (and we did have 4 people listed when we signed up for our room through the volleyball registration). We also had an issue where we did not have enough towels for everyone in our room. The first night they brought us extras and we were able to use those the second night. The third night they didn’t have enough staff to bring us more so they wanted us to come down to get it ourselves. Would I stay here again.. I would.. but I definitely wouldn’t settle for a lower quality room for the same price as the more updated rooms...
