Neiman-Marcus......well how does one describe "Neiman-Marcus"---? It is so different to every person. Some people who did NOT grow up shopping there---well it's most likely just another department store. But for me, I grew up with my parents taking me every fall to Neiman-Marcus to get outfitted for the upcoming school year. We saw Mr. Stanley most every time. I am the proud owner of several signed books, either written by him, or ones that he had been selling at the Store. I was most saddened when he passed. Mr. Richard was always friendly and as I grew---and grew into having a HUGE obsession with DESIGNER fashion. It was at the ORIGINAL DOWNTOWN store that we went. I bought my first Jean-Paul Gaultier suit there, I bought my first Giorgio Armani clothes there, I bought an astounding amount of Gianni Versace there.......I looked forward to going to Dallas like a kid expecting Santa. My first credit card: Neiman-Marcus! So, back to the question, Neiman's is the epitome of service, discretion, and an ever-ending impression to me that QUALITY matters. As I went out in the world to start my own businesses, I taught them the Neiman-Marcus way of treating customers. In my 35 years (as an adult), I have only had 3 sales advisors---Neil Fees, Judy Park, and the inimitable Sharon Maus Kuhl. Sharon Kuhl is just AWESOME. She is always a phone call away and it doesn't matter that I live in Oklahoma City---she knows what I want and sends it along. I wish life could be held in a Neiman-Marcus store. When you go up the terrazo tile steps going up into the DT store from the Commerce street parking, you are immediately hit with these smells and sounds that just say---"Come In, we love you." I hold Neiman's in a reverential place in my heart. There is NOTHING better than Neiman-Marcus. Period. I will say this, after the Marcus family sold the stores things changed and they have not been for the better. The credit side of the business needs some work. It used to be, if you needed to spend a bit more during Christmas or Hannukah, they didn't mind. They never had to call and say "You're over your limit" and scream about that. Mr. Stanley would have just melted if he knew a well-known customer was told, no, you're 5.00 over your credit line and Capital One won't let you charge more. But, I'm sure, in time, they will iron that problem out like they did HSBC. So, in closing----NEIMAN MARCUS. It's not just a store---it...
Read moreTerrible experience at Chanel. I came in around 12:30pm on a Sunday and was looking for purchasing a foundation from Chanel. A sale advisor named Yungmin Jun or similar to that greeted and I told her what I needed.
You would think coming to an expensive department store you're supposed to have great customer service. I asked her if there was a panel for all the shades so I could pick. She was very rude telling me oh no we don't have that kind of panel. I was like well how should I pick my right skintone color? She said and I quote "you buy it for you? well let me color match you" in a VERY DISMISSIVE TONE. I did not enjoy that. You don't talk to people like that, let alone customers.
She brought out shade B40 and B50. They were both darker than my skin tone. Then she told me "well Im not going lighter than that". Why not? So I only have 2 options? I told her well maybe I will get the B50 then. In my head that was just gonna be my bronzer shade then.
Then I asked her for the loose setting powder. I SPECIFICALLY said Translucent. In the makeup world or the word itself it means CLEAR/COLORLESS. How can you work in the beauty industry and have no idea what it means? She flat out told me "What? Chanel don't do that!". I pulled up my phone and went to Chanel.com and showed it to her. Such ignorant.
I had it. I said well I would order from the website then. Then she asked me if I still wanted the foundation B50 and I told her NO. She said nothing and I couldn't have cared less.
I went to Dillard's and bought a bunch of Chanel stuff and the service was divine.
I do believe that Neiman Marcus is the best. That's why I went there first choice, not Dillard's, Macy's or Nordstrom. But God forbid that woman from working in the beauty industry. Such a bad trait of a person. You would think since I'm asian and "asians stick together"....
Read moreHands down the best customer service I have received in years! We live out of town and traveled to Dallas for a shopping weekend.
Christopher Wood in the shoe department was exceptional! We tried on several pairs of shoes and he was friendly and engaging the whole time. The next day, I received a text from him - an item from another store in the mall had been left behind in the shoe area. This item was from a store that my friends visited and he remembered that and took the time to reach out to make sure of whether it was left behind by us. Service after the sale that he would certainly not gain anything by trying to get it back to us. Turns out it wasn't ours but it was still top notch that he reached out. I will be buying any future shoe purchases through him in the future!
Next stop was purses. Gail was wonderful! She helped me pick out a bag from the available stock that matched my lovely shoes! When I returned home, I decided to look online and found a bag that I liked even better and wanted to exchange... but again, live out of town and no trips back to Dallas planned for the next month, so I called. Her coworker, Audrey, assisted in the purchase of the new bag that was online, and the return of the fist bag. Sent Fedex to my door the next day! I had my new bag in hand and a return has already been issued for the first bag. She even made sure to mention she'd give Gail credit for the new sale. That is true teamwork!
Neiman Marcus Northpark is doing everything right. Fabulous experience and lifetime customer gained; but I have a feeling they treat everyone with this level which must speak to the store's management. Fabulous job and kudos to...
