We’ve been here several times, most recently this evening, for a date night at Eataly. We ultimately decided on dinner here specifically to have pizza and pasta. We were seated quickly at around 5p, with no wait, at a table for 2. Our server had about 3 of 7 tables full when we sat down, so she was very attentive. As our meal progressed, her section filled up and she wasn’t able to spend as much time with each table.
We ordered a bottle of wine, the arancini, and focaccia bianca to start. The focaccia was amazing - warm, fresh, light, airy, and the oil was flavorful. The arancini was disappointing. Based on other photos I’ve seen, I think we might have been missing the sauce, which might have a made a difference? While my partner enjoyed them, I thought the combination of rice, peas, mozzarella, and lots of saffron was too much. A dipper would’ve helped for me. They were okay, but I won’t order this again unless someone I’m with just have to have it. We ordered the buratta and pesto pizza and cacio e pepe pasta to share. The buratta and pesto pizza was among the best neapolitan pizzas I have ever eaten. The pizza was served hot out of the oven and each piece was topped with buratta, basil, pesto, and tomato. Just delicious. The pasta was good, we would’ve liked to have fresh parmesan on top, but our server was swamped. My daughter likes to add shrimp to the dish, and my partner could’ve used some protein as well, but the pasta itself was delightful. So we did enjoy the fresh pasta and the overall taste, but would’ve liked a tad more cheese. For dessert, we went with the bavarese al pistachio. It was like a mousse with apricot glaze and topped with pistachio and crumbles. It was okay, but we enjoyed the cannoli from the counter service Eataly a bit more.
We were left to finish our wine when our meal concluded, which was nice not to feel rushed despite the restaurant getting more busy. We will be back and definitely recommend the visit, get the pizza. The salads also looked great - were already thinking about what to order on...
Read moreLa Pizza & La Pasta inside Eataly at NorthPark Mall totally caught us off guard in the best way. We came for the carbs, stayed for the imported beer, and left full of joy (and lasagna).
Booked a table by scanning the OpenTable QR code at the door, then wandered the Italian grocery while we waited. Honestly, not a bad way to kill time—think pasta heaven meets market stroll.
We were seated in the back kid-friendly room, where the tables have attached chairs like fancy school desks. A little awkward to slide into (felt like playing Tetris with my knees), but once you’re in, the booth is cozy.
My preteen loved the kids’ combo: pasta or pizza plus a fancy Italian Sprite-style soda. She chose pasta and couldn’t get enough of the cheese on top. Meanwhile, the rest of us devoured pasta and lasagna that tasted fresh and deeply comforting.
They rotate menus from different regions of Italy every few months. When we went, it was Sicily, but the table wasn’t feeling seafood. I was outnumbered. Still, everything we tried was spot on.
Shout-out to the tall waiter who told us their pasta is made fresh across the hall. On our way out, we actually saw them hand-making it by hand. So cool. Bonus: they serve imported Peroni beer, which tastes way better than the bottled stuff at home. And the amber Italian beer? Surprisingly smooth and flavorful.
Pro tip: if you try one of the Italian sodas and find it super tart, add some ice or water and it becomes a really refreshing treat.
All in all, we expected a mall meal. What we got felt way closer to an Italian vacation. Already looking forward to coming back when the next...
Read moreThis was our second time dining at La Pizza & La Pasta inside Eataly Dallas. Our first visit was great — the food, service, and overall experience impressed us enough that we decided to bring our cousins along for a return visit. Unfortunately, this visit didn’t live up to expectations.
To start with the positives: our server was very kind and friendly, and the appetizers and pizzas were excellent — fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared.
However, things quickly went downhill with the main course. The pastas took an unusually long time to arrive, and when they finally did, it was clear something had gone wrong. All the dishes looked and tasted like they had been sitting under a heat lamp for far too long. The Cacio e Pepe was dry, cold, and bland, the Spaghetti al Pomodoro was also dry and lukewarm, and the lasagna looked almost burned on top. The seafood linguine, sadly, suffered the same fate — dry, unappetizing, and missing the fresh flavor we expected.
We also noticed a sharp drop in attentiveness. After the food arrived, no one came by to check on our table. Our server disappeared, only returning to hand us the check — not once asking how the food was. That part was disappointing, especially after we had asked him for recommendations earlier in the meal and he didn’t seem familiar with the menu.
We’re not the kind of group that complains or sends food back — we simply won’t return. That was it for La Pizza & La Pasta for us. We still love Eataly and look forward to visiting Terra and Il Pastaio, where we hope to have...
