This Theater Company is just amazing. My daughter has been here for the last two years even though we do not love in the city.
The camp counselors are high school students who are a part of the program and most have been with Art Park Players since they were itty bitty. When they grow up and off to college, their time with the company is recognized and celebrated at the end of the Spring show.
There are many different class options based on the age of the child, that typically meets once a week. At the end of the season, they put on 4 shows, from Tuesday - Friday. The theater room holds about 200-250 and they have their system down pretty well! Ms. Diane does a wonderful job of organizing the theater seats. It's incredible because they don't require high-priced software or advance technology. You just pick up the phone the morning tickets are released, call the number provided, leave a message with your name, how many tickets you need, what day you want them for, and seat preference. They give you a handy dandy for to fill out so that you are prepared with all the information you need to request your tickets. And voila - it's on a fair first come, first serve basis. Ms. Diane calls you back in a prompt manner and confirms your order. You can always purchase season tickets to avoid having to call. I'm not sure on the season ticket prices, but regular shows are a fantastic $5! Each show has concessions, raffles, ways to honor or little one, etc. Basically, every care is given to the shows to make them extra special.
Ms. Susan, the director..is the best speaker and most well-dressed woman in Texas! She is the epitome of Southern charm. She makes evety family feel welcomed and you know she's great at her job, just by the ways the kids love her.
Obviously, I can't say enough gerat things about this program. Just know that you can't going wrong starting here. Except....you might never...
Read moreI am a long time patron of Art Park productions. This season I am disappointed in the repeat of "Forever Plaid" because it has been presented too often for my taste. Also the dinner this February is not healthy for anyone; too heavy on carbs: pot pie, sweet potatoes, corn, and dessert with only garden salad for relief. I love my front row seats and usually enjoy an easy night out at this theater, but I do not look forward to this dinner or...
