Char Burger — Restaurant in Deer Park

I gave this place a great review the first time I went however I have now changed my mind and will post on every social media how horrible the customer service is and I will NEVER EVER return to this place again.

I love supporting local businesses so I decided to go back and have lunch here, uuuhhh big mistake... I was going to order through the drive through but changed my mind and said that I would just go inside and order, uuuuuhhh another big mistake... I walked in and there was only one person seating in the restaurant eating, I was greeted by the owner by say "Don't ever do that again, I was confused about what he was saying so I said excuse me, he then repeated himself by saying it once again... "Don't ever do that again, and I was do what sir.. he said "You drove through the drive through but then you came inside , I was shocked because I really thought that he was joking but then he said to his mother you take the order because I can't deal and walked away.

I have never ever in my life been greeted like this before in a restaurant and I pray that I never ever in life be greeted like that again. I don't know why I expected that he was joking because the last time I went I took a friend for lunch and he was very disrespectful to his mother, I should of learned my lesson then, that anyone who is as disrespectful as he was to his very own mother he doesn't care about being disrespectful to anyone else...

I work to hard for my money to be disrespected and there are so many other local businesses that has great customer service and who I will be supporting...

I ended up trying the place when my car broke down one day and I was walking back to the office. I agree with other reviewers that the dining area and building exterior needs to be updated. But doing that sort of thing can be pricey and if they're leasing the building it's usually not worth the cost. As for the food, I had a Gyro Platter. Having grown up in a VERY Greek area of Upstate NY I was really surprised and happy to find it was just like I used to get back home. I was disappointed at first that there was no Tzatziki Sauce on the side, but realized quickly that there was plenty in the pita and every bite down to the last was tasty. My office is close by and I just always drove past to the nearest drive-through because it looked a bit dingy. While it's old and dark it appeared to be clean, which is all I ask of the places I get food from. I found the mature Greek woman who takes the orders a bit curt and can see why so many folks consider her as rude.... but this is exactly what I would expect from a Greek Woman of her stature. LOL I found it a bit amusing and authentic. If you're that person who's feelings are easily hurt and you're looking for that robotic, happy smiling corporate employee behind the counter, you're not going to appreciate this place. If you're up for a different than the norm experience and appreciate old fashioned diner type food (this is not a high or mid end restaurant) then give it a go. Came to this spot because it’s right down the road from my job and had decent reviews. It was pretty dead. Went inside to order, and whoever took my order was kinda rude. First I ordered the special, asked if I could add bacon, was then told it wouldn’t be the special if I added bacon so I said okay that’s fine, meaning I still wanted the bacon. Then asked if I could have onion rings instead of fries and was told, I can’t sub that out, so I was like you can’t sub it out or you can’t do it for the special? The response was for the special. I said Okay… that’s fine. Told me a total of $9 and I said is that with the Onion rings? Was given attitude and told “I can’t do that with the special” to which I replied “that’s fine if it’s not the special, I will pay whatever price it comes out to”. He then shook his head with a grin and snatched my card out of my hand and from snatching it he dropped it on the counter and told me your total now is $14 to which I was fine with and still gave a tip. My food came out pretty quick. The burger was subpar as well as the onion rings, but my burger had no bacon…. Please work on how you’re treating each customer that comes in.
