The employees try their best, they really do. I appreciate that a lot, and the amenities here are very nice. Everything is new and the overall aesthetics of the complex are great in comparison to nearby complexes.
However, I have had issues with different things since day 1. Itâs always something new. First it was them saying that there was no early move in day anymore after telling everyone in June that we could move in August 1st if we wanted to. 2 DAYS before I was set to move in it was pretty much, nope, sorry you canât. Next it was okay, you can move in August 1st. But your building doesnât have any working AC and thereâs dried paint and drywall all over the floors/appliances/surfaces, etc. These two issues were not fixed until 2 days after I first moved in.
Next, it was the giftcards we were promised. I didnât receive my giftcard until almost two months after I moved in. In addition, the giftcard expires in May, so you are not able to use it for the whole duration of your lease.
After that, it was the mailboxes. No one had been given keys to them. All mail (including just PAPER mail), has to be picked up in the office.
Then, it was the gates. For awhile they were completely not working at all. Open all the time. Super safe! Now, theyâre working. But the code box doesnât even work so good luck getting a guest in the parking lot without physically walking down there yourself to open the gate with your clicker. Or ordering food. (Oh, and some residents were never given a clicker at allâŚ)
The walls⌠the train. I live on the third floor and can hear every single conversation in the parking lot. I donât know what the walls are made out of but they are legitimately paper thin. Itâs ridiculous. Good luck studying or sleeping.
My rate? Was supposed to be $709 (before applying the giftcard). I have been charged $746 the entirety of my lease. May not seem like much of a difference but it adds up over the course of a year. No one has any explanation for this and has repeatedly told me âitâs been that the whole timeâ and thatâs the amount it was when I signed my lease. (It was not. My roommateâs is $709, who I signed at the exact same time as).
And finally, my very last straw came just a few days ago. I was trying to sleep and heard gunshots. Not just one, manyyy many gunshots. Come to find out this occurred a two mere floors below me. Instead of sleeping, I spent my night calling 911 and then trying to figure out what in the world happened until 3 in the morning while there were 5 cop cars outside my window and crime scene tape in the parking lot.
I cannot believe that Iâm paying so much to live in a complex that has so many issues, but most importantly one that is so unsafe. Itâs disheartening and I am very glad I decided months ago to not resign. I would advise future residents to consider their options VERY carefully and reconsider if this is your choice.
Update 8/10/22: Upon moving out, they are trying to charge me $85+ for a âtrash feeâ (there was no trash left in my room/the rest of the unit), in addition to âpaint damageâ within my own room. I find the paint charge ironic since upon moving in initially, there was âpaint damageâ ALL over my unit - on the floors, appliances, other surfaces, and while it was cleaned, some still remained throughout my room such as under the bed on the floors, etc. The paint they have used is about a tenth of an inch thin, and ANYTHING that even SLIGHTLY rubs against it would naturally rub paint off. Canât say Iâm surprised they went the cheapest route possible to paint the units since that seems to be a common theme at NTX as a whole. Paint damage is also not listed under âabnormal wear and tearâ per my lease, so I will be disputing this charge. Absolutely ridiculous. Want to squeeze every last penny out of you that they possibly can. Do NOT live here unless you want to feel constantly ripped off. So glad this nightmare is...
Read moreGuest parking (and parking in general) is terrible. There's not enough parking for residents around buildings 1-4, and there are very few guest parking spots on the whole property. Also, the permit app NTX uses will not let guests visit residents more than three times a week, even if each visit is only a couple hours long. This is because NTX has a policy in their lease that guests cannot stay overnight more than three days a week (which is perfectly reasonable), and the permit app only gives guests 24 hour permits which makes it appear that the guest has stayed overnight. I have reached out to staff twice about this problem, and I was told 1) that it was a new system and NTX needed time to adjust it and 2) to give the front desk my vehicle information on any visits after the third. The problem with these answers is that the permit app has now been in use for several weeks with no solution, and I am often unable to contact the front office because I visit in the evenings when the front office is closed. The only way I can think of to fix this problem is to let guests choose the duration of their stay, so they don't get towed after their third visit.
In addition to terrible parking for both residents and guests, there's very few dumpsters (not nearly enough for a property as large as NTX) which are placed on the edges of the property. Because of how few dumpsters there are and how far they are from the buildings, residents regularly leave full bags of trash right outside their door, and this is not only unsightly but also creates horrible smells in the outdoor hallways. Also, trash bags on the first floor will occasionally be ripped open. Trash also accumulates within apartments which allows bugs into the unit (my girlfriend had a problem with ants). This could be fixed if there was a trash pick-up service.
Another problem is that there is not a lot of lighting outside, especially by the stairs and in the parking lot. Since the hallways outside of the apartments are outdoors, there is a lot of light during the day. But at night, it's very easy to trip down the stairs (which has happened to me and my girlfriend more than once). I also don't feel very safe walking to my car at night because I often have to walk across the whole property (from building 3 to guest parking on the other side of building 5) in the dark or in the dim lighting from the few lamps in the parking lot. As a young woman, I've been taught to always park under a streetlight/lamp for my safety, but it's hard to park under a light if there's only a handful on the whole lot. For the safety of residents and guests, NTX should invest in more lighting for their property.
There are many other small things that add to the one star rating such as paper-thin walls, dorm room style mattresses, easily marked walls, unfulfilled promises made to residents, dog droppings all over the grass areas, unknowledgeable staff, left over paint splatters in rooms, damages to rooms from construction, loud creaks and groans from the walls, people constantly smoking on premises, and many more.
This may be a new community, but that fact doesn't excuse how many promises they couldn't deliver, how sloppy and rushed the construction and subsequent cleaning were, nor how confused the staff are because of how many changes management seems to make. So in my opinion, save your money on renting from NTX until they get their feet under them. It's not worth the headache (that even...

Let me start by saying the place doesnât have bugs. Thatâs the only highlight⌠the only one Andrew Tovar a recent graduate whoâs probably like 21, and if heâs older thats surprising, is running the place which is crazy but Iâll get back to that. Aleah the GM who is actually supposed to be running the places is neverrrrrr in the office and often times in her on-site apartment with her family. I literally had to speak with the regional manger of asset living to get her to do her job. They go in your apartment without letting you know. I was the reason they started sending emails about it bc they would just come in and THEN maintenance would move things around. The person in the last review was ABSOLUTELY right. Amenities where ? The pool is open 2-3 months before itâs locked again. The gym door was broken for a good 3 months; literally a homeless guy came in while I was working out. Creeped me out. The gym had no mirrors and then someone (probably a college kid) put up some dollar tree 8x8 mirrors and put them next to each other like a collage. The gate was broken for a year and theyâre lying, no one ran into the gate đ. I literally lived right by the gates and they didnât remove one itâs just a cheap bad system. Which led to my car getting broken into. I didnât even bother going to the front bc Iâm sure they would have told me their lease says itâs not their problem. They will not communicate about anything other than making sure they get their rent money. You would think it comes out of their pay check. Literally 2-3x a week reminding about rent. Finally, move out!! Andrew the recent grad overnight became a paint estimator. They wanted to charge like $455 for two â touch-upsâ. Like any adult I asked for an itemized pricing list of how they charge. He proceeded to tell me that they basically guesstimate. Once again, I had to reach out to an actual adult to see how to get it handled bc the entry level estimator couldnât tell me anything. Oh and they make up rules so they donât have to deal with people. When I came in to ask about the ridiculous charges they all proceeded to cry â We canât talk about it! Send an emailâ bc of course itâs too much to ask talk face to face even tho theyâre running a business with an office⌠with people⌠who get paidâŚ.to talk to people He did eventually email back with a lower guesstimate like $200 less which Iâm thankful for , but goes to show itâs not about actual pricing but about if youâre willing to challenge them on the foolery.
Save yourself the trouble. All apartments are full of it but if you need your job like me donât do it because theyâll make you crash out. Also rent is super high here for no reason and the apartment are super tiny. Iâm currently at the Marlowe and even with utilities not included, itâs cheaper, bigger, and...
