I had been here once before to get a bad hair coloring fixed and I had a wonderful experience so I decided to come back. I came in with pretty light hair and was wanting to go dark brown and get my bangs trimmed, as well. I showed my stylist what I wanted and we looked at hair swatches together. I even told her (twice) that if she had any suggestions for the cut and color, to please tell me because I figured she knows more about coloring than I do. After the dye was finished, I was concerned it looked too dark. Maybe the colors I showed her and what she put on my hair were the same, but to me it just looks black. I expressed to her that I didnāt know if I liked it and she told me we could attempt to fix it then and there, but recommended I go home and wash it and if I still didnāt like it after a couple of days to call the salon and they could see me again, and because my hair was so light the color would sit heavier on it (and maybe thatās common sense to some but I donāt color hair professionally, so maybe this comment would have been useful before my service, not after, when I gave her opportunities to express her suggestions/concerns). Flash forward three days and 6 shampoos later, I still donāt like the color, so much so that Iāve already tried a color remover, so I call the salon. They said they couldnāt get me in because it was too busy this close to the holidays (which I can understand), and that my stylist actually said to give it a few weeks (even though I told her I had family Christmas pictures in a week). They said āthe reality of the business is that you may not get what ask for,ā which I guess I can understand, but when I spend 200+ (including tip, which I now regret), I would like to get pretty darn close to what I want. All this to say, I wouldnāt be leaving such a bad review if the stylist had been upfront with me about me not being able to come back to get it fixed in time, and if she had communicated better with me...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI had not had my hair cut or styled by a professional in three years when I picked Salon NV out to get a handle on my very long, very curly, very thick hair. Amanda was my stylist, and she was very polite. I was treated very well, and was initially happy with my cut - although I could tell it was shorter than I had wanted it. I declined to have my hair dried, since blow drying my hair turns it into a frizzy mess, so I didn't know quite how short the 'do was until a couple hours later; it really does take that long to dry. It's about two or three inches shorter than I wanted it to be. I made sure to let Amanda know that it would shrink up quite a bit, and told her where I wanted it when it was dry. I thought she would know about how long to cut it when it was wet to achieve this look; after all, she cuts hair every day, and I hadn't been to a salon but a dozen times in my lifetime.
But my hair will grow out again, and I wasn't too concerned with the length. What did concern me was that my hair was shampooed before I had a chance to mention that I'm sulfate free. It was cut wet, and was cut far too short, and now that it's been stripped of the natural oils I spent quite some time carefully cultivating, there's no denying that I look like a lampshade.
I'm sure that Amanda works very well with straight hair. But curly girls beware - she simply doesn't have the experience with my type of hair. Should I have spoken up and said something before my hair had been washed? Yes. I've learned better for next time. I was nervous and I deferred to the professional. But when it comes to my hair, no one knows better than I do. Next time I'll be going...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreANNA is AMAZING!! I have naturally dark hair and because I am in my 50's I have to cover the gray. I had gone to someone that did all over color for me to cover the gray and the highlights that had turned brassy and red. It turned out way too dark with no dimension and I knew it looked too harsh and as if I had box color on my hair. Ugh! I called on a whim, which I never do, and asked if anyone at the salon had an opening and thankfully Anna was available. Of course, I was nervous because I know dark hair can be a challenge and as soon as I booked with Anna I looked up her bio on the website and it said she specialized in dimensional brunettes, which made me feel at ease. I was still a little nervous when I got there but Anna took her time, listened to what I wanted, my concerns/fears, explained her process in detail, and did exactly what I asked her to do. She even calculated the cost before she started on my hair to make sure I approved of the amount! What?? It turned out even better than I could have ever imagined and my family and friends told me that my hair looked better than it ever had!! The color, the style, and how healthy it looked!! I felt like a million dollars walking out of the salon that day and I cannot recommend Anna enough! Plus, the salon has a great vibe, welcoming atmosphere, and anyone I encountered was so friendly and helpful. I highly recommend Anna and Salon NV!! Thank you for making me feel...
