COLORADO ESCAPE — Attraction in Denver

Yesterday , January 14, 2023 we came as a group to celebrate our wonderful friend Murjani’s birthday. Murjani called earlier in the day to let them know a couple people may not show and if there was a way to get those tickets refunded. Because she was within her 5 hr period of refunding the unused tickets, the lady Alex or Ariel stated she doesn’t usually do that but would allow this exception and will refund who ever did not show. When we arrived it was a total different experience. The trap room was fun but Alex and Ariel were very unpleasant. Alex and Ariel both denied ever saying such thing . Why would she not get the refund on the phone if that was the only time to do it. Completely didn’t make since . When Murjani tried to explain her side she was being cut off and over talked. I felt so bad , IT WAS HER BIRTHDAY. She decided to spend it at y’all’s establishment. Instead of Alex and Ariel providing wonderful understanding customer service , they got offended.. defensive and rude . They hurried up and put a rope up and started talking about us from the back room . Completely made us feel like we were being irate black people . It was totally not handled right and I feel like these two ladies could have made the experience so much better despite the communication issues . This place is often the first escape room experience for people because of the price point, and I would imagine that it turns them away from escape rooms for good. The puzzles usually make very little (if any) sense- half of the time it goes against previous clues or requires you to guess the majority of the combo or code. The rooms are also EXTREMELY poorly themed- decorations will be broken, most of the props are store bought and don’t even look real, and scenery that looks like it should be a part of a puzzle won’t be (typically left over from previous rooms or iterations- a poor excuse for a red herring). I added an extra star because the game masters are always friendly, but I honestly don’t think it’s worth the time or money (even if it IS very cheap). I've done escape rooms all across the country. This one (we did the game of thrones room specifically), was, it pains me to say it, the worst. The puzzle design was atrocious. We got stuck on a puzzle and managed to get through because one of the puzzles was broken. No one said anything about it though and the game master was surprised to hear about it at the end. The puzzles were boring, incredibly unintuitive, and almost every single one revolved around a lock. The room design was unimaginative and could have been thrown together fairly quickly and easily by anyone. It had little to do with the theme.
